Published reports are indicating that General Motors will move
up the production of their updated line of GMC and Chevrolet
pick up trucks by three months with the new models making their
debut in October 2006. Some are calling this move an act of
desperation on the part of GM which has been socked by extensive
criticism over its product line, while others are hailing it as
a bold, strategic initiative. Regardless, this is an unusual
move for the world’s number one automaker, one that could help
the company get back on its feet. Let’s take a look at the new
trucks and what they will offer to you, the consumer.
High gas prices, quality problems, and a perception that the
company offers products that no one wants has been plaguing
General Motors for much of the past year. With plant closures
coming, layoffs pending, and market share decreasing, little
good news has been focused on “the general” by the automobile
press. Fortunately, GM is battling back with fresh models set to
be released including SUVs and trucks, which are the “bread and
butter” vehicles of the company. Here is what you can expect to
see when the new trucks enter the market in Autumn 2006:
1. Fresh sheetmetal. All new exteriors with a modified and
sportier front end.
2. Modified engines. Traditional work horse engines which have
powered GMC trucks for much of the past decade are expected to
return. However, displacement on demand technology, which shuts
down unneeded cylinders at certain times [city traffic being one
example] is expected to be incorporated on some motors. This
technology effectively increases gas mileage without sacrificing
performance.
3. New steering. Just as the SUVs will receive new rack and
pinion steering when they make their debut in Spring 2006, the
large pick up trucks should receive similar enhancements.
4. Interior upgrades. Changes to the trucks’ interior as well as
to packages offered will be some of the “inside” changes noticed
by consumers.
General Motors has its work cut out for itself as an eroding
market share is threatening the very viability of the company.
Part of the reason for the move up of production is to thwart
the new models expected from Nissan and Toyota that compete
directly against the GMC pick ups. Both Japanese automakers have
stated that they, too, are moving up the production of their
popular full sized pick ups, therefore General Motors is
reacting in part to their anticipated moves.
Beyond GMC trucks, the automaker will be releasing the Saturn
Sky convertible, revamping its entire line of full sized SUVs,
and overhauling several other lines of vehicles in a bid to win
over customers. All of these changes are steps in the right
direction, but the unanswered question remains this: how will
consumers respond? The answer isn’t likely to be known for at
least one more year.

Right now, there are a lot of people who are enjoying the freedom of getting and using low interest credit cards. Others are struggling, and slowly finding themselves starting to be overcome by the high interest rates on their cards. You know the story, at first, it wasn’t much, but now that you have added a lot of credit onto those cards, and frequently use the plastic, the amount you pay each month in interest has become a bill in itself - something that you do not need.
So, you ask, how can you get that low interest credit card? You know those ads for more credit cards are always coming in the mail (your email, too), and truthfully you’re more than a little tired of it. In fact, you have probably also noticed that the more money you owe - the more credit card applications you receive. Here are some steps you can take to get one of those low interest credit cards.
Look At The Percentages
While getting all of those applications in the mail, it is best that you take a few minutes to carefully read between the lines before applying. The promises may indicate a low introductory rate, often a gimmick used to get you to apply real quick - without reading the small print. Card companies will give a 0% interest introductory offer, and then it may go sky high after the initial offer is over. Even if you do not have that 0% introductory offer, but the card has, say, an 8% interest level for the life of the card - this latter offer could be the better one.
Many cards, the so-called cheap credit cards, may offer you a 0% balance transfer, and possibly even a 0% interest for a specified period. After that period, though, if you do not have it paid off - it may be time to find another cheap credit card to transfer your new balance to.
Look At The Conditions
In general, it is true that it takes a good credit rating in order to get one of the low interest credit cards. So, you may need to accept a little higher interest card than what you are hoping for, use it to get better credit, and then look for a low interest credit card after your credit improves.
Lately, some credit card companies have been raising the interest rates on credit cards for rather simple infractions. This could include anything from a single late payment, to paying your utility bills a day late. This is another matter to look into if you may be prone to make late payments. Know what the top rate of the card may be.
Look At Smaller Card Companies
The major cards, like Visa and Master Card, do not have to make such special offers - simply because they are the larger companies. But smaller companies, like Discover and American Express, make some really attractive offers in order to draw the new customers.
Look At The Rewards
Other cards, while possibly not being as low as some of the others, may offer you some good rewards. Of course, this type of card only has real value if you can benefit from the rewards. For instance, a card giving you free air miles is useless - if you never fly anywhere. While it may not lower your interest so much, the rewards could definitely save you in money elsewhere.
Another option is a card with Cash Rewards program. Usually this is given if you pay off the credit card debt with each month’s billing period. This is certainly an additional savings - even above the fact that no interest is charged.
Look To Reduce Your Rates
One thing that could be very helpful in you getting those low interest credit cards might be something real simple. Through surveys, it has been found that about 51% of the people that just asked for lower rates from their current credit card companies got what they wanted. This definitely is worth a try - whether you call them, or just write a letter asking about it.

Necklaces are always very popular and fashionable pieces of jewelry. It doesn’t matter which generation you are in, the fact remains that necklaces always find a place amongst women’s fashion accessories. Among these necklaces will generally be pearls.
What comes to mind when we think pearl necklaces? To me, it has predominately been strings of white pearls or occasionally a string of pink pearls. Pearls though, come in a variety of shades – some of them being white, pink, black, silver, cream, gold, blue and dark green. The list of colors seem endless.
What kind of pearl necklaces are there? There are two types that come to mind. Firstly, you can have a necklace with one or more strings of pearls, white or colored. But have you stopped to think what beauty you can find in a different kind of pearl necklace, a necklace that will make it a unique pearl necklace?
Let’s take a look at what makes a pearl necklace unique and different. Imagine yourself wearing a beautiful necklace made from a combination of gemstones and pearls. Gemstones come in a wide array of choices – types of stones, colors and shapes. Team gemstones together with pearls into a necklace and the variety is immense. There is always a unique pearl necklace to suit your personal taste and the outfit you want to wear.
Unique pearl necklaces have the added advantage of being useful to team together with many different colors and styles of outfits and can be used also for either a formal or casual look. This makes them a very versatile piece of jewelry because you don’t have to keep your pearls just for a special occasion but makes them very practical for casual wear as well.
Let’s take a look at a few examples. Imagine natural shaped turquoise alternated with white pearls and fine beads. Another combination would be a blend of stones like baroque pearl, aquamarine, amethyst and rose quartz, giving a beautiful blend of colors in the cool shades. Black baroque pearl with India agate is a good choice to serve as an all round “go with anything” necklace.
When choosing pearls, keep in mind your skin coloring as well as the outfits you have to wear. By choosing your necklace colors like this, you can enhance your beauty and also the appearance of your outfit when you wear a unique pearl necklace as part of your accessories.

We all get tired of doing the same thing for months. Our daily routine gives very little time to rejuvenate ourselves. The demanding personal and professional responsibilities take a heavy toll on our body and mind. At times we get so stressed out, that taking a break becomes absolute necessity.
For some privileged, going for a holiday needs no preparation just packing bags, booking tickets and moving out. But, for people with limited financial resources and minimal bank balance need to think twice before going for a holiday. Making a lump sum payment can put their financial budget in stress. So they fall back on credit cards for their holiday expenses. Poor management of high interest credit cards can further jeopardise their financial health and credit history. So, for those people, CHEAP HOLIDAY LOANS comes as a good option.
A holiday loan is given to cover your holiday expenses. It comes at a cheap rate than your credit card bills and most importantly you can repay your holiday loan within a fixed period by paying equated monthly installments. The advantage of cheap holiday loans over credit card is its low interest rate and repayment terms. Unlike credit cards which take you to a never ending process of minimum payments and revolving credits a holiday loan has a fixed repayment period and lower interest.
There are many lenders in the market offering CHEAP HOLIDAY LOANS. The interest rate of such loans depends on various factors like your financial position, capability to provide collateral and your credit history. People who are in a position to pledge collateral can get holiday loans at a much lower rate than people who don’t have collateral. Even if you have a poor credit history there are lenders who can consider your case and approve loan although with a little more interest.
To get a holiday loan at lowest possible rate of interest consumers are advised to study different holiday loan packages from various lenders and bargain hard. Internet and World Wide Web can come to your rescue if you want to save your time and money. Through Internet you can get access to multiple lenders and negotiate with them. Look for as many loan proposals as you can and then choose one of them as per your requirement and choice.

Here’s a question I get all the time: I truly have no time to exercise. What can I do? Simple, don’t exercise you’re to busy. Just kidding. Let me give you an example of a client I consulted who had the same problem. She was working full time, going to school part-time, had a 6 year old and basically felt she couldn’t find time to exercise. Since she had very little time, joining a gym was not really an option. So here’s what we came up with.
Everyday she had to walk to work and back instead of taking the bus. She worked in a high-school with access to 12 flights of stairs and a weight room. Her goal everyday at work was as follows: Upon entering the building she had to walk up to the sixth floor 2 times. Anytime she had to leave her office she had to walk up to the sixth floor of the building and back down. That was 4 times a day. Before she left for the day she had to walk up to the sixth floor 2 times. She also had to visit the weight room and do 20 pushups, 20 dumbbell shoulder presses with 10 lbs, and 20 back rows with 50 lbs. She visited the weight room twice a week. Is this program perfect? Of course not but what program is perfect. For someone who thought she had no time she was able to do aerobic work 5 times a week plus 2 strength work-outs. She also happened to lose 14 lbs. in nine weeks. That’s excellent progress for some one who initially thought she had no time to exercise.
The point I’m trying to make is that having no time to exercise is usually just a perception. Usually it’s just a matter of fitting it in somewhere in your day. Another misperception is that exercise has to take place within a specific hour or time frame. In this particular case the exercise took place at intervals throughout the course of a day.
If you are truly busy (and most of are) and feel you have no time to exercise (and most of need to) try finding little spots in the day to fit it in. It really doesn’t take much for it to add up. Remember 3 ten minute sessions over the course of a day will add up to 30 minutes. Many experts agree that 30 minutes is the minimum amount of exercise people should get each day.
I hope this example gives you or someone useful ideas on fitting exercise into your busy schedule.

For centuries man’s progress has been lighted by candles. However, people know only very few things about the origin of candles. It has been written that the first candles were made by the Ancient Egyptians. They used rushlights, or torches, made by soaking the pithy core of reeds in molten tallow. Unlike the candles, the rushlights had no wick. The Romans were the ones who it is said to have developed the wick candle. They used it to help travellers at dark, and to light homes and places of worship during the night.
America’s first contribution to candle-making was made by colonial women who discovered that if they boiled the grayish green berries of bayberry bushes they got a sweet-smelling wax that burned clean. But it was extremely tedious to extract the wax from the bayberries so their popularity soon diminished. The first important change in candle making since the Middle Ages was bought by the growth of the whaling industry in the late 18th century. Spermaceti, a wax obtained by crystallizing sperm whale oil, was available in large quantities. The spermaceti wax, as well as beeswax, did not smell unpleasantly when burned. Even more importantly, spermaceti wax was harder than tallow and beeswax and it did not soften or bend because of the summer heat. Historians write that the first candles as we know them were made from spermaceti wax.
During the 19th century, people made most of the changes in candle making. In 1834, Joseph Morgan, invented a machine, which allowed continuous production of candles by the use of a cylinder, which had a movable piston that ejected candles as they solidified. Today, they are no longer a major source of light for people, but candles continue to be very popular and useful. Candles mean celebration, romance, ceremony, and can be an object of décor, while casting the same warm and enjoyable well-known glow.

I’ve never been popular in my whole life. I think there must be something inside me that didn’t get enough attention as a kid or something because I seem to find myself looking for it all the time. I think about some of the career paths I have walked down: I’ve been a musician, a pastor (who gets to get on a platform and talk to people – getting attention – even if I do have something selfless to say – I like the feeling I get when I feel like people “get it” – anybody else have this in common?), I’ve been a stand-up comedian (here, there’s a real pressure to get people to like you because if they don’t, they let you know fast). I even started “blogging” because a lot of great bloggers are out there and they seem to know how to type just the right things to get lots and lots of feedback. Heck, I figured I’d tried everything else, why not see if I get some feedback, too. And you know what I found out?
Blogging is frackin’ hard! And what is the whole point of a blog? To get comments. Yes, it is! You know good and well that to write things because you have to simply “get them off your chest,” you could write in a diary or a journal (by journal, I mean, the “book,” not the “webjournal”). You could even type it on your computer and save it away in your “My Documents/Private Diary of 2 am Thoughts.” Nobody would ever have to see it. But, you don’t. Why? Because we have something inside us that wants people to give a crap! We don’t want our thoughts to remain silent. Especially controversial thoughts. Why? Maybe because controversial thoughts gain ATTENTION! And with attention comes what? More feedback. And I am no different. Musician. Artist. Comedian. Pastor (Actually, I should use the word “Preacher” here instead of pastor.). And now, Blogger. The only difference is that nobody reads my blogs. Well, if they do, they rarely comment on them.
I got fired because I blogged. I wanted attention. I got attention all right. And you know what? I still blog! Why? Because I’m an idiot? No, because I figure somewhere out there, somebody might just care enough about what I’m saying that they’ll comment back. Maybe even get a whole revolution of blogs going. Who knows? Maybe I could be one of those “Expert Bloggers” – you know who you are, if you are even reading this - that draws conversations and big dialogues over at my blog because I’m just cool enough to get people’s attention.Only I’m not cool enough.
And I’ve commented on other blogs. My, oh my, how I have commented and “prostituted” myself all over the blogosphere. Who cares, I guess. Some guys (and gals) are really popular. They can write, “I had an orange today,” and they still receive thirty-five comments (”Hey, Me too!” - by JoeBlogg, among thirty-four others saying, “Hey, I love oranges!”). Nothing for me, though. Sadly, I actually make up my own comments and put fake names on them just so if by some chance somebody comes along and reads it, they’ll think, “This guy must be cool. He must be popular. People are commenting on his.” Sadly, I have done this before.
I’m a failed blogger. I could hang my head in shame and bow out gracefully. But, I will probably continue to post these random thoughts because somehow, it means something to me. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow, somebody will see it and the whole “Emerging Pilgrim Blog Revolution” begins. And if not, maybe I’ll just take it on the road. Time once again to hit the Comedy Clubs. At least there if I don’t get laughs, I’ll get some food out of the deal.

LCD is one of the biggest technologies in television at the moment, set to go head-to-head against plasma screens for the future of TVs.
But what do LCD televisions mean to you? Well, to begin with, the picture you get is a lot sharper. By now you’ve probably replaced your old bulky computer monitor with a flat, LCD one, and you’ve no doubt noticed the difference in picture quality and clarity. Now the companies behind LCD want it to do the same for televisions, making them flatter, clearer and altogether better.
Another thing to note is that the rise of HDTV (high-definition television) is linked to the rise of LCD televisions. HDTV allows the original TV signal to be broadcast in even better quality than a DVD, and digital LCD TVs can then display the signal perfectly.
It really makes TV as we know it today look ridiculously primitive by comparison – and if you’re willing to splash out on an LCD TV and an HDTV subscription, you can have it today. Every year, LCD screens are decreasing in price and increasing in size, making them an ever-better competitor against other screen technologies.
When you buy an LCD television, the main things to look for are size and price, although there are also more technical features you might be interested in, like colour depth (the number of colours the screen can display). Response time is one that is often considered important, as LCDs with a long response time can produce a blurring effect when showing pictures of something that is moving quickly. There is also a measurement called dot pitch, which roughly indicates how sharp the picture produced by the TV will be (lower numbers are better).
As a final word of advice, if you do decide to buy an LCD TV, make sure you see it in use in the shop first. You should watch to see how it handles different kinds of pictures, and what the display is like compared to other LCDs, as well as compared to plasma screens.

First, we all watched NTSC video at 480i, and we liked it, because we knew no better. Then some intrepid(and well off) home theater enthusiasts were lucky enough to enjoy 480p, thanks to the Faroudja LD-100 line doubler or Runco IDTV set ups. Because the Faroudja units cost $20,000.00 in the early ‘90’s, and only worked with data or graphics grade projectors, they were not exactly mass market. As technology improved, prices decreased, and more people could enjoy progressive scan video in their home theaters.
Fast forward 15 years or so. Now you can get a DVD player with Faroudja progressive scan technology on a chip for under $200.00. Just about every TV and projector you can buy takes progressive scan video. Indeed, digital TVs and home theater projectors will convert video to progressive scan, because they require progressive scan video at the sets native resolution to function. If the video is not in the proper format, it will be converted inside the set. Most DLP or LCD imaging chips used in consumer TVs and projectors now have native vertical resolutions of either 480, 576 or 720 lines. Most LCD and plasma displays have 480, 720 or 768 lines.
In the fall of 2005, manufacturers started showing the latest generation of video products. Behold! 1080p! Why all the fuss? Because 1080p is the top dog in HDTV, that’s why. It has the highest resolution of all the 18 approved HDTV formats, with 1920 x 1080 pixels. There are two 1080 resolutions approved for HDTV, 1080/60i and 1080/30p. The advantage of 1080p over 1080i is that, like a computer monitor, a 1080p display will show all 1080 lines with every video field, whereas a 1080i device will only show ½ at a time. Digital displays require progressive video, so any 1080i program material is deinterlaced inside the set, converting it to 1080p. Up until the advent of 1080p displays, it was also down converted to the native resolution of the imaging chip or flat panel.
One caveat at this point, amazingly enough, many of the first generation 1080p TVs do not accept a 1080p input. Huh?? You read that correctly. It’s true, of the first 1080p sets introduced, only the HP units will actually accept a 1080p input. The Mitsubishi will accept 1080p, but only through its computer input. Most of the flat panel displays don’t seem to have this limitation and will accept 1080p.
At this point in time, there is no commercially available 1080p program material, with the exception of some Microsoft Windows Media HD discs. With respect to HDTV you can get 720p or 1080i, but no 1080p at this time. Fox, ESPN and ABC broadcast in 720p. while CBS, NBC, TNT, the WB and HD Net all use 1080i. Soon, however, Sony will release Blu-Ray Disc and Toshiba, DH-DVD. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Disc will have the capability to support 1080p. When the time comes, you’ll be able to just buy or rent a disc and enjoy 1080p in all it’s splendor. Good News! Netflix has announced they will rent both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD as soon as they are introduced.
