Are You Calmed and Relaxed When You Trade?

Sometimes I get some really strange questions in the mail. The one that follows is one of them. Although I try to be like “Rambo” when I trade, I haven’t in actuality fully achieved “Rambo’s” degree of “coolness.”

“Joe, is it really true that you are able to stay calm and relaxed when you trade? Are you saying you have never cracked under pressure?”

There have been times when I made mistakes under pressure, but I don’t recall ever cracking under pressure. By that I mean I didn’t panic, but I have come close. Being short soybeans when Chernobyl blew up was probably the closest. I’ve made huge errors in conduct - once I sat and lost $45,000 in a matter of minutes because I tried trading while teaching a student at the same time. Lesson learned: Never trade and teach at the same time. Stay focused on one or the other. I once woke up to a margin call of $21,000+, but it turned out in my favor. I had erroneously left a 5-lot in the market overnight - thinking I was flat - the result of sloppy housekeeping.

Nevertheless, I have learned how to make trades in a relaxed, but focused way. I don’t put unnecessary pressure on myself. I don’t let myself get stressed out - it’s simply too costly to do that.

I don’t believe that I have to be successful on any one trade; I keep my focus on the big picture. I don’t believe I need to be right. I don’t try to impose my will on the market. And I definitely don’t try to predict the future of price movement. The market is the market - it does what it wants to do.

What I do is to closely observe market conditions and movement, and make up a detailed plan of attack. I trade what I see, allowing the market to take me where it wants to go.
I make a serious effort to stay calm and relaxed, and ready to act on whatever happens next.

Once I have a trading plan, I follow it. I do not doubt or second-guess my plan. I meditate on my plan and picture myself carrying it out successfully, before I ever enter a trade. I really believe in mental imaging as being an important activity.

I enter and exit trades without worrying about the consequences. Worrying has never helped me to trade well. Worrying is wasted energy. By staying focused, I am able to see trading opportunities more easily, and that allows me to take advantage of the opportunities when they arise.

Trading is a lot like playing sports. Players must stay objective, calm, and not crack under the strain of wanting to be “the best” or “perfect.” I am definitely not a perfectionist.

I recall one year when college football fans observed what happens when a team seems to be playing “so perfectly” that some say they are “unbeatable.” All season long, the Oklahoma Sooners had been winning, and winning big. They were the only undefeated college football team, until the day they lost by over three touchdowns to the Kansas State Wildcats. What’s surprising about this loss is not that the Sooners lost, since even the best teams can lose occasionally. It was the way they lost and how they seemed to be defeated psychologically. After making their only touchdown in the early moments of the game, they seemed to be stunned and shaken for the rest of the game. They couldn’t make even a single touchdown. It was unexpected and hard to believe. One commentator said it was like the bully who had never been beaten down. They knew how to win, but when upset and knocked down, they didn’t know how to get back up. Sooners’ Quarterback Jason White said, “They put pressure on us and got to us a few times.” And as the clock ticked away, Kansas State made another touchdown, then another, and then another. During the final minutes of the game one announcer said of the Oklahoma team, “They just want to lick their wounds and go home.”

From a purely psychological perspective, one can wonder what would have happened had the Sooners lost one of their first few games. Maybe they would have learned how to recover from a setback, and when they were down by a couple of touchdowns, they could have easily come back to make the win. It’s like what some hedge fund managers say about good traders: “The best traders are those who have blown out their accounts a few times. They know what it feels like, know how to recover from it, and the possibility doesn’t haunt them anymore.”

Although it’s unpleasant to think about, it’s worth considering the worst-case scenario, and making a detailed plan to recover should it happen. It’s just one strategy for learning how to trade in a carefree manner so that should you face a severe financial setback, you can recover from it. So-called “trading in the zone” requires intense concentration and focus, and it’s difficult to maintain this stance when the pressure is on you to perform. Thus, you must do whatever you can to reduce the perceived psychological pressure. The most obvious way to relieve such pressure is to think in terms of probabilities and carefully manage risk. It’s useful to remember that you may not win on any single trade; but after a series of trades, you will have enough winners to make a profit in the long run. It’s also important to manage your risk. Determine your risk up-front and risk only a small amount of trading capital on a single trade. Doing so will ease a lot of the pressure, allowing you to be more open to see the opportunities that the market offers. Don’t crack under the pressure of a potentially mortal financial defeat. Consider the possibility, and be ready to recover from it.

Car Bumper Manufacturers in China

China has begun to emerge as the economic force to reckon with
in the global market. Its billion strong population has made it
possible to break through almost all the markets, and these
include the car bumper market. It seems that there is no dearth
to car bumper manufacturers in China. Below is a list of some of
the more visible Chinese manufacturers who have made their
presence felt online, plus an overview of their companies.

Xiamen Kingtom Rubber-Plastic Co., Ltd. Is established and
located in the province of Xiamen. This ISO 9001 certified
company is 400-strong with 60 production lines. They are
specialized in rubber and plastic parts for sanitation,
automobiles (which includes car bumpers) and electrical
appliances. Their monthly capacity is around 400 tons finished
items, so items can be delivered in less than a week. Their
vision is to turn their company into a large scale company
operating for the international market.

Changshu Jianan FRP Products Co., Ltd. specializes in FRP (or
fiber reinforced plastic) technology. They have a comprehensive
range of products: from the automobile bumper to the motorcycle
casing to the cable jacket, they all have it. Although they have
a much lesser number of employees - 120 - they do have a vast
factory area of over 12,000 square meters, and their annual
production capacity is 10,000 MT. Also, the proximity of their
location makes it convenient for them to transport their
deliveries on time. They mostly cater to the international
market, with their products reaching as far as UK, Australia and
America. Their annual sales are US $2,200,000 and their main
buyers are the Hitachi Medical Corporation and the Import Trenz,
among others.

The Haiyan Zhenda Automobile Fittings Factory, established in
1976, has been a leading manufacturer of auto parts, including
brake lining, rubber parts such as the car bumper, and engine
bolts. They are an OEM supplier to major vehicle assemblers, and
they are vouched for by their ISO 9001 and TS-16949
certifications. It is no wonder then that their sales top US
$10,000,000 annually and that half of the products they make
find their way throughout the world.

The L&C Auto Parts is relatively young compared to the
abovementioned. It was established only in 19990, although they
have been in fact steadily growing over the years. Their annual
sales tip $ 8,000,000. Their main products include the car
bumper, the guard rail, the solenoid, the armature, the exhaust
manifold, et al. Their two main factories specialize in
producing hardware car parts for assembly and creating starters
and armatures, respectively. They place great stock in the
quality of their products as evidenced by the investment they
put in their R&D and QC departments.

The Anhui Technology is a large trading company that supplies
mostly the US and European markets. They have a variety of
product offerings, from appliances to chemicals to machinery.
This contributed to their export volume of $524, 000,000 last
year. Their branch, the Anhui Technology Auto Parts &
Accessories, offers automotive break parts, automotive
suspension parts and accessories (the car bumper being one of
these) and automotive battery terminal/fittings.

The Shanghai Tengkun Consulting Co., Ltd. offer a broad range of
products, from auto spare parts (like the car bumper, car
mirror, or car tire) to furnishing parts and telecommunication
equipment. Their products have proven to be a hit in the
Japanese, European and North American markets. They are engaged
in the export and import service, and also have a Commission
agent for their documentation works agency and inspection agency.

And to think that this is only a drop in the sea that is the car
bumper business, and the ocean that is the automobile industry.
The plethora of car bumper choices is a boon for consumers who
wan the best value their money can buy.

House Plans - Save Money Designing Your Dream Home!

Online Resources Make It Easy!

Did you know that purchasing your house plans online can be a less expensive way to select the layout of your dream home? As you consider building a custom home, take some time to look at the house plans and blueprints that are available to you on the internet. Just as with any major renovation, building, or investment decision, there are some important things for you to consider before purchasing the dream home plans online. When choosing house plans, you will need to assess your lifestyle, the size of the home, and the budgetary limitations you may (or may not) have.

Why Not Use An Architect?

Architectural designers can be expensive and time consuming. You will have to find time to meet with the architect and his/her team, and add the cost of customized blueprints to your budget. Buy purchasing “stock plans” or pre-designed blueprints from the web you will be able to cut this cost considerably. Your house plans can still be customized with the special design features that mean the most to you!

What Do You Want In Your Dream Home?

There are a plethora of house plans available to you on the internet, so make a list of all of the features important to you before searching the web. Make a list to keep near you for quick reference as you search for your house plans. Think about where you see yourself in 5, 10, and 20 years down the road. Will you still need a five bedroom home? Will you be having more children, so you do want house plans that allow for expansion in the future? Do you want a room to exercise in? A game room? Is a large, spacious kitchen a top priority? Do you want your laundry room near the kitchen? As you address these types of questions, add your answers to your handy list.

Do Your Research!

Once you feel comfortable with your list, go online to look at the house plans where you will be able to enter your specifications. You will then be given a list of house plans for you to select from and browse through. Your home is a reflection of you, so remember this as you look at the plans. Compare the designs and styles. See if you can take different aspects from different styles to combine them for your perfect home. Take a look at a variety of different plans and websites before making your final blueprint choice.

Reciprocal Link versus Value Exchange

Most webmasters are familiar with the concept of reciprocal linking. Reciprocal linking is the exchange of links between webmasters with the hope of improving their site ranking with the search engine. However, as more and more webmasters use reciprocal links to increase their site ranking, the search engines are also getting smarter and more demanding.

Search engines are increasingly becoming more selective with the in-bound links to your website. They are looking not just for the number of in-bound links your site may have, but also for the quality and relevance of those links to your site. In other words, webmasters can no longer arbitrarily exchange links with others if they wish to improve their site ranking with the search engines.

Thus was born the concept of value exchange.

I first heard this concept from Ken Evoy, the author of “Make Your Site Sell” and the creator of the amazing All-in-1 “SiteBuildIt!” webhosting. Ken has always been in favor of building websites that are search-engine friendly. This means your website should aim for the same kind of criteria search engines look for in ranking sites. Instead of wasting time figuring shortcut ways to beat the search engines, design your website with quality content in mind. That, according to Ken, is the only consistent way to rank high with the search engines.

Ken should know what he was talking about. The websites his “SiteBuildIt!” hosted come with automatic periodic submission to the biggest names in search engines. He uses a unique submission system that is search-engine friendly, unlike most automatic site submitters. So successful was this that most of “SiteBuildIt!” websites consistently rank among the top 5%.

Thus it was no surprise that Ken saw the importance of value exchange - the term he used for link exchange between two quality sites with similar theme. He followed this up with a free value exchange program that is available to all quality websites. The keyword here is quality. He only allows quality sites to sign up.

So if you think your site qualify, try out his free value exchange program. You’ll soon be getting requests from other webmasters with quality sites to exchange links with. You can check it out at theselfimprovementsite.com/ve

Fragrant Fine Art: Give your Garden a Design That’s All Your Own

The very best gardeners are those who recognize gardening as an art form and not just as a hobby. There are several things to consider when you begin to plant your garden this season. From your potted plants to your flowerbeds, and even accessories like waterfalls, stone walkways, garden benches, statuettes and more, there are many options for you before you begin. So take the time to select carefully.

The creative gardener will plot out his or her floral décor, not only in a way that accommodates his or her personal taste, but also considering the needs of the plant or flower and where it should be placed outdoors.

For example: many flowers need excessive sunlight, if you can find a few different kinds of flowers to place in a bed that gets direct sunlight for a good portion of the day, you can then design a color scheme suitable for that bed. Consider that some flowers will grow taller, and some will remain small, that some will fill out across the bed and some will remain exactly where you plant them. You will want to have a somewhat specific design in mind for your garden décor before getting started—and even before you purchase your plants.

The art of gardening is a wonderful thing. You can enjoy the outdoors while you create. And then, aside from the maintenance your garden will require, you can enjoy the garden you have made, sit outside and relax—observing the beauty of your own creation.

Find out about the kinds of flowers you want to plant before you plant them. Check on how much light they need, how much water they need, and what are the typical kinds of surroundings that will be best for a successful result. There will be some types of plants or flowers that you cannot use in your garden unless you create the conditions in your garden under which they will thrive.

However, it is possible to do this, to design an area suited for the particular flower or plant you want in your garden. Let’s say that you want to plant a flower that needs to remain somewhat cool and does not want much sunlight at all. Well, the summer will be hot and the plant, if simply planted, will not survive. Nevertheless there are ways to work around the special needs of your plant or flowers. For example: if a flower you really want in your garden has the special needs I mentioned above, consider a waterfall to keep it cooler, if there is not enough shade provided beside the waterfall, perhaps you can build or install something to induce shade, like a covered walkway or a canopy, maybe a gazebo—or maybe something as simple as planting a tree that will provide enough shade.

Let your garden be a perfect reflection of your own personal style and luxurious taste, whether your garden is elegant and simplistic, or elaborate and luxurious. Your garden should be something to be proud of.

Check out our website for more artistic gardening ideas today. There is a lot to learn, but be creative and inventive, too. You will be thrilled with your garden when you purchase the right plants and flowers, use the best garden equipment there is, and have an idea planned out for how your garden will work, thrive and be a pleasant, fragrant place for you to be this season.

The Frightening But True Facts About Smoking

If you think that smoking is a harmless little hobby and all the people harping on you to quit are overreactors, think again. Smoking is the number ONE preventable cause of premature death and morbidity in America. There is nothing more dangerous you can be doing to your health. And it isn’t just bad for you, smoking around your kids can cause severe health complications down the road and cause serious damage while their lungs and other vital organs are developing. All of this information is well documented by the AMA, American Lung and Heart Associations, and the American Cancer Society.

Background On the Problem Of Smoking

Cigarette smoking has been identified as the most important source of preventable morbidity and premature mortality worldwide. Smoking is responsible for approximately one in five deaths in the United States. From 1995 to 1999, smoking killed over 440,000 people in the United States each year. This includes an estimated 264,087 male and 178,311 female deaths annually. Among adults, most smoking attributable deaths were from lung cancer (124,813), coronary heart disease (81,976) and chronic airway obstruction (64,735).

Excluding adult deaths from exposure to secondhand smoke, adult males and females lost an average of 13.2 and 14.5 years of life respectively, due to smoking. If current tobacco use patterns persist in the United States, an estimated 6.4 million children (8,830 per 100,000) will die prematurely from a smoking-related disease. Smoking costs the economy over $150 billion in annual health care costs and lost productivity, including $81.9 billion in mortality-related productivity losses and $75.5 billion in excess medical expenditures. It is directly responsible for 87 percent of lung cancer cases and causes most cases of emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Cardiovascular disease is the primary cause of death in the United States. It is estimated that as many as 30% of deaths from cardiovascular disease are a result of tobacco use. In 2001, approximately 65,000 women died of lung cancer. 85,000 men die each year from smoking related cancers of the trachea, lung and bronchus. These statistics are not encouraging, and indicate that smoking has a far more negative impact on the health of Americans and the strength of our economy than most people are aware of. These statistics alone should make people stop smoking, but unfortunately many people relapse back into the habit.

In 2000, more than 70% of smokers wanted to quit, and 41% tried for at least a day. Many smokers report making 8-11 attempts before quitting for good. With a large majority of smokers desiring to quit, it is imperative that they are given the tools and support they need to increase their chances of being successful.

Judy Brown is a director of http://www.lifenatural.com, http://www.smoke-rx.com and http://www.helpquitsmoking.net a pure informational resource where you will find further information on how to quit smoking.

Ten Meeting Management Issues to Watch Out For

Meetings are valuable components of organisations. Yet they need
process, discipline and leadership/facilitation to work best.
Here are some indicators to watch out for to highlight where
things may be going wrong.

1. No Agenda When there is no agenda, there is no opportunity to
prepare, no framework for the meeting and no purpose. When this
happens a lot, there is a tendency for 5 below.

2. Wrong people there Ever been to a meeting where there was no
logical purpose for you to be there? Meeting time is valuable
and it is important for efficiency and effectiveness that as few
people attend as purposeful. People should appreciate that
non-attendance at a particular meeting is OK and get used to it.

3. Overrun Those times when you sit in a meeting and watch your
life slip away, are those that happened with poor meeting
management. There is nothing worse than unkept promises (and
meetings are just that - a contract to the participants time)
and must be honoured. Everyone has a role here.

4. Indiscipline Many meeting participants do not know how to
behave. These are things about them and their ego, lack of
self-confidence and poor behaviours (out side the meeting too).
Lack of courtesy, understanding and space for others to say
their piece is inexcusable and not constructive for the outcome.

5. The Leader Leads Here the meeting is at the beck and call of
the leader or chair who really is holding court for themselves.
This sort of meeting is about them showing that they are
democratic, but they are nothing of the sort. This is a
rubber-stamping meeting and is of little or no value.

6. The Leader Doesn’t Lead Here there is free-for-all, with no
leadership from the chair. Poor behaviours, timekeeping and
outcomes riddle this sort of meeting, with and end no-result and
frayed-tempered, frustrated people.

7. Environment Too hot, too cold, no water, no breaks, too big,
too small. Have you ever been in one of those meetings? And
aren’t they awful, so awful in fact that you can’t do your best.
This is a meeting where the organisers do not respect the
participants.

8. Nothing Happens A lovely chat, a few disagreements and ’see
you next month’. This is the nice-to-have meeting which does
nothing and goes nowhere. As Peter Drucker said, ‘Meetings are a
symptom of bad organization. The fewer meetings the better’.

9. Side-tracked/New Stuff With an agenda, people know what the
meeting will be about - or will they. Even with the best
agenda’d meeting weak processes tend to leave to new issues,
side-tracking and wasted time. This is solvable with effort from
the facilitator.

10. No Review and Growth Meetings come and go and are always
awful. They are unproductive, boring, overrun and people are
there who shouldn’t be. If there is no review of just how good
or bad the meeting has been, there will be no improvement. The
leader/facilitator can add in meeting feedback as the first
agenda item and stick to it - tough at first but gets easier.

Just ten things to watch out for - maybe a sign, or maybe
something deeper about you, your organisation or your people?
Were does the responsibility lie for changing that for the
better?

Who Wins the Barbeque Showdown? Gas vs. Charcoal Grills

The debate over which grill is better–gas or charcoal–may not induce as many passionate and polarized opinions as a political campaign, but for outdoor cooking enthusiasts it comes pretty close. Die-hard grilling aficionados swear by the flavor and process of cooking with charcoal grills. But with the majority of new grill purchases being gas models, there are obviously fans in that camp, too.

So which grill wins the debate? Let’s look at the arguments for both. The case for gas or charcoal seems to be divided along three main points:

  • Convenience
  • Cost
  • Taste

The Convenience Argument

The clear winner in this category is the gas grill. Most models feature push-button ignitions, a consistent, steady heat source that’s ready to go within minutes, excellent temperature control, and easy cleanup.

But convenience isn’t necessarily a deciding factor for all grill shoppers. Charcoal enthusiasts say it’s the ritual–piling up the charcoal, lighting it, tending the fire, and manually adjusting cooking temperatures by moving food from hotter spots to cooler ones–that makes outdoor cooking worth the effort. They feel that trading the process of the backyard barbeque for the push-button convenience of a gas grill is missing the point.

The Cost Argument

If cost is the most important deciding factor for you, you’ll likely want to look at charcoal grills. They cost considerably less than gas, with basic models ranging from about $30 to $100. If you add features like additional burners and side tables, you can count on something like a $300 to $400 range.

Most gas grills–excluding portable and table-top models–are on the expensive side, ranging anywhere from $300 to $1500, and more for higher end models such as built-ins and smoker/grill combinations.

The Taste Argument

Though some barbeque fans swear they can’t tell the difference between food cooked on gas grills and food cooked on charcoal, the charcoal purists insist otherwise. According to them, the flavor that is infused from the smoke of charcoal briquettes or wood coals is what distinguishes an outdoor feast from a standard kitchen meal.

In an effort to address the taste issue, some gas grill manufacturers have built models that add ceramic flavor bars. These bars catch grease drippings and vaporize them into smoke that infuses more flavor into what’s being cooked.

So who’s the winner in this category? The jury is still out on this argument, and it probably always will be. Taste is such an individual decision; you may just have to try both grills and see for yourself.

For Those Who Still Can’t Decide . . .

As you can see, there are pros and cons to owning a gas grill, just as there are advantages and disadvantages to owning a charcoal model.

Still aren’t sure which one is right for you? Do what many families have done in recent years–buy both! If you truly enjoy outdoor cooking, it makes sense to own two models that you use for different purposes. For example, you can use the gas grill for cooking quick barbeque meals during the week, and break out the charcoal grill for when you want to take your time on the weekend.

There are a couple of options available to you if you want to own both a gas and a charcoal grill. There’s the obvious one: buy both grills. But if your budget is tight, or you’re limited on patio space, check out a combination gas/charcoal model. These grills convert from gas to charcoal and back again with just a little preparation and effort.

So what will it be–gas, charcoal, or both? In the end, the decision comes down to your lifestyle and what features work best for you and your family.

5 Ways To Use Autoresponders In Generating Mountainous Sales

Over and over again had all Internet Marketing Gurus agreed, the
power’s in the list. Your list of subscribers - the more you
have, the stronger you are. The number of subscribers has a
large impact on your future in the Internet Marketing field, it
decides if you will enjoy a good life or continue working hard
from day to night.

If you have a 100,000 list of subscribers, you can enjoy life
comfortably. When somebody comes up with a product you love,
endorse it to your subscribers, and there you are: figures of
money next day. Don’t understand why? Here’s the calculation, if
you endorsed a $50 product, and the commission is 50%, you’re
getting a $25 pay for every sales you get.

Out of your 100,000 of subscribers, if you have 1% of them who
purchases your endorsement, it’s $25,000 right into your bank!
If this is the subscriber database you’ve got, you’re done for
good.

So how is it that we can use autoresponders to generate us more
sales? Here are 7 simple ways of doing it:

1. To publish an e-zine Autoresponders have a feature which
enables you to create mailing lists that your visitors can
subscribe to including your own e-zine - an electronic magazine
that you can use to effectively market your products, or provide
useful information. If you focus on creating e-zines of valuable
information, your subscribers will be more interested in reading
them and that increases your sales. 2. To deliver e-mail courses
to your visitors. Provide courses with valuable information that
your subscribers can profit from and stress the benefits of
purchasing or having your product. If you write articles you can
choose not to only publish them in article directories, but your
mailing list as well. Other than that, you can also send out
e-mails that answers commonly asked questions that you get from
your visitors, subscribers, or customers. You can use problems
that people come to you with to write up a course - by showing
your readers how your product can solve their problems. For
example, if you wrote a manual on e-zine publishing you can also
write a course that shows your readers different ways to promote
it, or share different ways with them so that they can
successfully market their products to their list of subscribers.
3. To provide your visitors with free excerpts/sample of your
informational product. A great way to do this is by creating
multiple reports. It can be excerpts of a single chapter
delivered over a number of days or you can use several different
chapters of your informational product to make up the free
report. Creating reports like these can be very effective in
building up trust with your visitors and will also help you pull
more sales. 4. To promote your articles. If you are a writer and
have written a lot of articles, you either submit them to
article directories, or use an effective way - by sending them
