Advantages & Disadvantages of At-the-money Option, In-the-money Option and Out-of-the-money Option

An at-the-money option has both advantages and disadvantages
over stock and in-the-money options. First, the at-the-money
option will be cheaper then both the stock and the in-the-money
option. So there is less capital requirement and less total
risk.

Remember, when buying an option, you can only lose what you
spend. The problem is the amount of extrinsic in the
at-the-money option.

In order for you to profit from buying an at-the-money option,
you need the stock to make a move very quickly. Because you have
so much extrinsic value, you will be battling against the
option’s daily rate of decay.

So, the movement of the stock must happen quickly enough and
large enough to offset the amount of money you will be losing
daily as expiration draws near.

With this said, the best chance you have to make money when
buying a naked at-the-money option is to use it as a short term
trade. The longer you hold onto this option, the harder it is
for you to be profitable due to the options decaying extrinsic
value.

At The Money Call vs. In The Money Call

For chart below, stock price = $35.00

Strike Price Option Price Delta Breakeven Extrinsic Value
 $30 5.20 85 35.20 $.20
 $35 * 1.00 * 52 * 36.00 * $1.00 *
 $40 .30 20 40.30 $.30

An out-of-the-money option presents many of the same advantage &
disadvantage parameters to the investor. The out-of-the-money
option is even cheaper then the at-the-money option which means
more leverage and less risk.

However, with a smaller delta, the stock must move much more
than either the in or at-the-money options in order for the
options to become profitable. Again, we need the option’s delta
to outpace the option’s rate of decay.

Now, with the out-of-the-money option, there is less extrinsic
value than the at-the-money option so the amount of total
possible decay (cost of the option) and the rate of this decay
is less than the at-the-money option.

By being further out-of-the-money, this option needs more
movement from the stock. As a naked option, this
out-or-the-money example is extremely speculative and should
only be used naked when the investor feels there is a very good
chance of a stock having a large percentage move.

An investor must understand that the odds of them profiting from
the purchase of a naked out-of-the-money option is very slim.
When purchasing a naked out-of-the-money option, be prepared to
lose your entire investment.

Out of The Money Call vs. At The Money Call

For chart below, stock price = $35.00

Strike Price Option Price Delta Breakeven Extrinsic Value
 $30 5.20 85 35.20 $.20
 $35 1.00 52 36.00 $1.00
 $40 * .30 * 20 * 40.30 * $.30 *

Although options can be traded by themselves for directional
plays, and can perform well under the right conditions, they are
much better used in coordination with stock or other options in
formatted strategies which will be discussed in the next
section.

While buying naked calls and puts can provide some of the
biggest leverage and highest returns, they can also involve the
most risk. This strategy should only be used by experienced
options traders or traders using risk capital.

The ‘Brand of One’ - You

In Network Marketing so often you hear the word – Duplication. You must duplicate yourself. Well, I don’t know about you, but I do know it is impossible to ‘duplicate’ myself!

Have you had the same life experiences I’ve had? What about your education? Your skills? Is it possible to really duplicate that? NO of course not!

Yet this fallacy is so often taught that it really creates confusion as to what duplication really is.

Brand Yourself

You need to be a ‘Brand of One’. You are unique, your skills, your life experiences, your personality and your circle of influence.

Now, if you heard that little voice go off in your head saying things like “I’m not special” “there is nothing really unique about me” and all those other negative thoughts that flood through your mind. STOP! Now!

Stop and make a list right now, of all your successes you have had in life up to this point. How many special people do you have in your life? ‘They’ are your circle of influence. Those other success’s you’ve had are a result of your ‘unique’ talents and abilities. These things make up the ‘essence of you’ your unique ‘Brand of One’.

Then Market ‘That’ Brand

Instead of going out there and ‘marketing’ your ‘wonderful company’, ‘your wonderful products’ and ‘your wonderful comp plan’. (just hear me out before you throw me out the door!) Market ‘yourself’. How? Let’s take a look.

By ‘being’ known in your community, known in your circle of influence for the ‘Brand Of One’. If you are knowledgeable about a specific topic or for having a special ‘skill’, this in itself builds the ‘know, like and trust’ that is ‘essential’ for building your network marketing business.

Continue to ‘be’ the person you have always been, learning and growing as that person. So when the time is ‘right’ to share:

  • what you ‘found out’ in regard to a way to clear those long standing debts,
  • or a way for young mums to stay home and still earn an income,
  • or maybe you share a way for people to maintain their health and vitality so they can enjoy quality of life in retirement
As you ‘share’, people will be ‘willing’ to ‘listen’ because you have built that ‘brand of one’.

Duplication

Now for the ‘duplication’ – you duplicate and encourage each person to ‘be unique’ developing their own skills, talents and circle of influence. Then duplicate the ongoing use / consumption of products - finding two to four other people willing to continue ‘being’ themselves, using the products and finding two other unique individuals willing to do the same.

THAT is the ultimate in duplication.

Met Online? Tips for that First Meeting

1. Before you meet someone, it’s essential that you let a friend
or family member know where you’re going and who you’re meeting.
You’ll feel better and they’ll feel better knowing you’re being
cautious.

2. Meet in a public place. There’s safety in numbers.

3. Keep the first meeting brief. As everyone knows, chemistry is
fickle. You may know right off the bat that you don’t want to
ever see this person naked, let alone sit through an entire
dinner with him or her. So don’t agree to spend the day at
Disneyland (which I did…so I know what I’m talking about) when a
quick cup of coffee or a drink after work will suffice. If
you’re both having a wonderful time, that cup of coffee can
always be extended into a walk around the park or lunch at your
favorite bistro.

4. If you have a favorite outfit, wear it! Ladies, do your
nails, fix up your hair, put on fresh lipstick. Guys, wear your
lucky “going out” shirt. When you feel sexy and confident, it
shows. It also shows the other person that you made an effort
and that is sexy.

5. Be polite. Even if there isn’t an attraction for you, treat
the person you’re meeting with respect. He or she may not be the
date of your dreams, but remember that they took the time and
effort to come meet you.

6. Keep the conversation light and fun. Don’t bemoan your bad
dating luck or how much you’re dying to have
children…immediately! Think of a first meeting as a cocktail
party: you’re meeting someone new and the talk is typically
frivolous and casual. Discuss your work, where you were raised,
any traveling you did recently. Based on your personal ads, you
should already have some idea of what you have in common. If
it’s your mutual love for the Yankees or your record of never
missing an episode of “Survivor,” talk about it.

7. Keep it casual and easy. Great ideas for a first meeting:
grab some java at the local coffee house, hit happy hour for a
glass of wine and buffalo wings (then go home!), have an al
fresco lunch where people-watching is ample (terrific for any
lulls in the conversation), or meet at the dog park with your
pooches in tow.

8. Don’t forget to have fun! Online dating, like any dating, is
an adventure. Go with an open mind and you’ll do well. If
nothing else, you’ll have great stories to tell your friends
later.

Mountain Bike Helmet - The Headlines About Helmets!

If there is one vital piece of mountain biking equipment, it is your mountain bike helmet. The purchase of your helmet should be at least as important as buying your bike. Whether in the city or off-road, you have no business being on a bike, without a mountain bike helmet.

Although accidents cannot be eliminated, wearing a helmet will reduce the risk and severity of a head injury by up to 88 percent.

It is therefore worth spending as much as you can afford on the best mountain bike helmet. Your life may depend on it! It is an investment in your safety, and will be used for a long time.

If you are a novice rider, buy your helmet from a store that specialize in biking equipment. Ask a knowledgeable sales person to advise you. A quality mountain bike helmet is of little use, if it isn’t fitted properly.

The helmet should be placed evenly on your head, and rest about 1″ or 2.5cm above your eyebrows. Ensure that the helmet doesn’t tip forward or backward, but rests straight on your head.

Your mountain bike helmet should fit snugly. Utilize the different foam pads inside the helmet to get the tightest and most comfortable fit. Pull the chinstrap as tight as possible, and adjust the side straps so that they rest just below the ears. The chinstrap should never be on the point of the chin, but moved back.

The helmet should pull down when you open your mouth wide, although there should be just about enough room to allow you to eat. If not, tighten the chinstrap. Make sure that both buckles are on the jaw and under the ear.

The mountain bike helmet should not feel loose, or move more than 1″ or 2.5cm in any direction when you shake your head from side to side. If it does slip, check and adjust the foam pads or side straps. If you physically move the helmet, the skin on your forehead will move with it, if it is a proper fit.

The airflow over the head is the means of ventilation in a mountain bike helmet. Larger side vents also improve ventilation. There is usually a sweat band on the inside of the helmet to control sweat, and ensure comfort.

Manufacturers are constantly striving to design lighter, better ventilated mountain bike helmets. This may compromise reinforcement, and affect safety. Be sure to look for a sticker that states that the helmet meets the necessary safety standards.

The best indication of this is the CPSC logo, or in Europe the CE logo, or alternatively SNELL certification. Helmets with the ANSI standard are not recommended.

Never wear a mountain bike helmet that has been in a crash. Even if the damage is not visible, you should always replace it with a new helmet.

One example of exceptional mountain bike helmets, is the Giro range. Their E2 is sleek, light, and comfortable. The unique Wind Tunnel Ventilation system, offers all the channels and vents you need for a cool ride.

The Giro Rib Cage, and in-mold technology ensures superb reinforcement. The snazzy Point of View Visor features an inventive internal clutch mechanism. Adjustment is secure. You won’t be distracted by irritating rattling on the trail.

Giro also offers an infant mountain bike helmet, the ME2. Kids adore them! The strap guides are simple, and the buckle won’t bite young skin. The helmet features a microshell with a built in bug net.

Young riders love looking and feeling cool with Flume, the youth version of the mountain bike helmet. They can choose between Lavender Space Girl, Yellow/Black Flames, or Silver/Blue Flames.

Take your time when fitting a mountain bike helmet. It may take 20 - 30 minutes to get the correct helmet fit. Examine all the different types and styles. Experiment with pad and strap positions.

You will find that mountain bike helmet that was made for you, that will hug your head snugly, and will enable you to tackle any trail with confidence and a feeling of security.

Why Consider ‘Sales Prospecting’ as a Sales Management Training Course

The last thing a sales manager wants to do is to go through a certification course in ‘Sales Prospecting’. They’ve been there and they’ve done that, or they’d not have been promoted to a sales manager level. After all, that’s up to the sales rep. That’s why they are hired on. In fact, I recently asked a Vice President of Sales in a competitive industry if he’d be open to looking at a ‘Sales Prospecting System’ for his sales managers his remark was “That’s what we hire sales reps for. If they don’t do it, we fire them and find some that will.”

Well, by definition, I guess that’s fair. Because if you take a look at any outside sales representative job description, you’ll see experience criteria listed such as: “Excellent cold calling and lead generation experience,” or “Must be able to identify Target Prospects and maintain an appropriate activity funnel,” or “Must meet or exceed activity standards.”

So why should a sales organization consider establishing a prospecting certification course for their Sales Managers? In order to consider this argument, let’s first take a look at standard criteria within a sales manager job description:

“Responsible for managing Sales activity for new and existing Account Executives”

Now let’s break this job criterion into individual elements and look at it as a professional Investor would look at a ‘Business Case’. Here are some synonyms for the word ‘Responsible’:
• Accountable
• In charge
• To blame
• Liable
• Guilty
• Answerable
• Dependable
• Conscientious

I don’t know about you, but if I understand the King’s language here, I am beginning to feel I have some ‘Skin in the game’ as a sales manager already. Let’s investigate a little further by pulling out the phrase ‘managing sales activity’.

There are (2) different ways to manage. You can choose to ‘Supervise’ or you can elect to ‘Organize’. If 100% of your sales team is 100% effective at professional prospecting; meeting or exceeding the necessary activity standard, ‘supervising’ will do the trick.
You’re dismissed.

But to the extent that they are not is the extent you will need to ‘organize’, put in order a best practice prospecting system to support new sales appointment activity. (Or start over like the sales executive fore-mentioned.)

Now let’s peel back the phrase ‘new and existing account reps’.
In a sales manager dictionary, ‘new’ means ‘New-hires’ and ‘New-hires’ reflects ‘Ramp-to-quota’. Simply put, the quicker a new-hire ramps to Quota the better for both parties; the new-hire and the sales manager. Both get more credit, earn more recognition and receive more commission. And what is the most important facilitator in getting a new-hire sales rep to Quota in the least amount of time?

It’s making sure they secure the necessary amount of new appointments. It’s the fuel in the tank. The quicker they do that, the quicker they will ramp to quota with the proper mentor support of course.
And that brings us back to the leadership choice between choosing to ‘Supervise’ versus electing to ‘Organize’.

Here’s a (1) rep ‘Hard-number’ example.

Average New Hires per Year: 1
Monthly Sales Quota: $7,500
Average Term Agreement: 24 months
Current Average Ramp-to-Quota: 5 months
Improve Average Ramp-to-Quota: 4 months
Average ‘Sub-Quota’ Revenue per Month during Ramp: $2,800
Annual ROI: $112,800

In this example, reducing the time it takes for (1) new-hire sales rep to achieve Quota by only 1 month returns back to the sales manager $112,800 in additional sales revenue.

The other and sometimes forgotten performance silo within the term ‘New-hire’ is sales employee turnover. Most sales employee turnover occurs with the first 8 months of bring a new sales employee onboard. My studies also tell me that 90% or more of that turnover is directly related to low sales activity; not setting enough new appointments to meet the quota ramp criteria.

Using the same model as above, let’s look at what’s in it for the Sales manager to promote a Prospecting system to reduce new-hire employee turnover.

Number of Sales Reps: 10
12 Month Turnover Rate: 40%
Average Salary: $25,000
Recruiting Costs/Rep: $1,000
Training Costs/Rep: $1,800
Monthly Sales Quota: $7,500
Improve Turnover Rate To: 30%
Revenue Ramp-up Costs: $60,000
Total Annual Cost: $178,533
Revenue Production Loss: $63,000
Saved Reps: 1
Annual Savings: $44,633

Reducing annual turnover for just (1) new-hire sales rep returns back to the sales manager $44,633 in additional sales revenue and recovered costs. Multiply that out by your own sales employee turnover number.

Now back to our sales manager job description criteria of “Responsible for managing sales activity for new and existing Account Executives.” Let’s investigate the term ‘existing account managers’ and what managing sales activities by ‘supervising’ or ‘organizing’ means to our career.

First of all, what percentage of your existing sales team is reaching or exceeding quota each month. Of the percentage that is not, what percentage of them are not achieving quota due to sub-par sales activity? When you uncover that sales performance number and understand the ramifications to revenue result, you will move another notch closer to your ultimate answer of ‘supervise’ or ‘organize’.

Secondarily, what percentage of your sales reps time is spent on securing new business appointments? JDH Group clients spend on average 50% of their weekly ‘hourly rate’ on prospecting. For a sales rep working 45 hours per week, that’s over 22 hours dedicated to front end activity. If you decided to ‘organize’ a prospecting system, become certified in it and help others with it, would that drive that number down? Will that allow your sales team more time to pursue higher-value, solutions-based selling opportunities?

One definition of ‘Best practice’ is the sum of everything everybody in your sales organization knows that gives you a competitive edge in the market place. Putting in place a ‘Prospecting system’ with best practice components and elements, becoming independently certified to it as a manager/leader and mentoring it throughout your sales team will ensure that nobody is left behind.

And enabling your sales team to share knowledge and insight stimulates ‘Targeted’ sales activity that will drive new business and help you reach your desired results more often.

Home Equity Loans For Debt Consolidation

A home equity loan is a secured loan that is taken out against a house. If you are a homeowner, you can get a homeowner’s loan. The biggest advantage of a homeowner’s loan is that it carries a low rate of interest because it is secured against a property. A home equity loan can help you release the equity tied up in your house. Home equity is the present value of your house minus the unpaid mortgage balance. A home equity loan is taken out when the house is already mortgaged. Suppose your house is mortgaged up to 80% of its total value, you can take out a home equity loan to release the remaining 20% of the home equity.

Home equity loans are of two types– fixed rate loans and lines of credit.

Fixed Rate Loans
In case of a fixed rate loan, the borrower gets the entire loan
amount at once and has to pay interest on the entire loan amount.

Home Equity Line of Credit
In case of home equity line of credit, the lender allows you to borrow money up to a certain limit. You do not have to borrow the entire amount at once and have the freedom to borrow as per your requirements. Thus, you do not have to pay interest on the entire amount.

A home equity loan is a convenient way of consolidating your debt. Since it is a secured loan, its rate of interest will be much lower than the rate on your existing personal loans and credit car dues. The interest that you pay on a home equity loan is tax deductible. Since the loan periods of home equity loans are longer than the loan periods of unsecured personal loans, the amount of monthly payments is also small. This is another benefit of debt consolidation using a home equity loan.

You have to be very careful while taking out a home equity loan. Once you have repaid all of your outstanding loans and credit card dues, you will be tempted to borrow some more money against your house. The amount of your home equity loan may exceed the entire value of your house. The amount of loan that exceeds the value of your house will be considered as an unsecured loan and will attract a high rate of interest. Therefore, when you take out a home equity loan, make sure that it does not exceed the total value of your house.

Do You Need Glyconutrients?

With all of the exciting things people are seeing in their lives as a result of adding glyconutrients to their diet, the question has been raised “Are glyconutrients a miracle cure or are the results people have seen a placebo effect?”

The answer is: NEITHER!

If you haven’t heard the term “Placebo Effect”, this is a nice way of saying “It was all in your head.” This can refer to either the disease itself or the “cure.” If glyconutrients were in fact a placebo, you would see little scientific evidence to support the results.

However, there have been numerous studies on glyconutrients, which scientifically validate the technology. Such studies can easily be found on the Internet by searching for information on Glycobiology.

One organization that has done extensive research in the field of glyconutrients and disease is The Fisher Institute. They can be found at FisherInstitute.org

To understand why people have such dramatic results after they begin taking glyconutrients, you need to take a look at how and why the body begins the disease process. First of all, glyconutrients are NOT prescription drugs that are prescribed to “cure” or “treat” any particular condition. They are a food. In fact, they are sugars. When you think of sugar, you probably think of the white stuff you put on top of your cereal. However, it has been discovered that all of our cells contain sugars at their core. Without these sugars, the cells cannot communicate properly.

There are 8 of these known sugars today, but most diets only contain 2 of these sugars. Fortunately, your body can manufacture the other 6 sugars, however due to stress and other factors; this process can be slowed down or come to a grinding halt. When this happens, cells begin to miss-communicate and the disease process begins.

Once the disease process begins, your immune system recognizes that something is wrong and tries to defend the body against the disease. As with any war, if your immune system has enough “ammunition” to battle the disease, your body will return to its original state of health. However, if your immune system does not have the ammunition or the proper artillery to handle the disease, the disease begins to get the upper hand and your health declines.

You may be asking yourself where glyconutrients play a role in this disease process. As mentioned before, glyconutrients are not prescription drugs. They are naturally occurring sugars and found in certain plants. When you add these sugars to your diet, your cells have the necessary components to communicate effectively. It’s this very process that allows your body to win the war against the disease and heal itself. As stated previously, glyconutrients do not cure or treat conditions. Rather, they allow the body to “treat” or
defend itself against diseases.

For years, doctors believed that when you ate sugars, they were immediately converted to energy. In fact some doctors went as far as saying that eating any dietary supplements (such as vitamins purchased at the grocery store) did nothing more for you than make “expensive excrement.” As a result, a study was conducted to understand what happened when a person added glyconutrients to their diet to determine whether or not they were converted to energy or absorbed into the body. The study showed that the body did NOT convert glyconutrients to energy as previously thought. The bottom line is that you can eat glyconutrients and gain significant health benefits.

A wealth of information on glyconutrients is available at:

Divorce - Lawyers Are The Only Winners

There is a joke out there that scientists are beginning to use lawyers in place of lab rats for their experiments. Apparently, the scientists were becoming too attached to the rats and there are some things that even rats will not do.

Is this cynical? Perhaps. But there is also an element of truth when it comes to lawyers and divorce. During a divorce, your emotions are on high alert and you may not be thinking clearly. This lack of focus for the lawyer’s clients is like blood in the water for sharks.

If you can put your emotions aside for just one moment, you and your spouse will realize that mediation is a much better option then going through lawyers and the courts.

IMPORTANT POINT – You do not need the courts to decide the division of marital assets, child support and spousal support during a divorce. You only need the courts to make the entire process official and final. If both parties in the marriage can present a self-negotiated settlement to the courts, the courts are perfectly agreeable to this option. This is why it is so important to do most of the groundwork prior to showing up in court.

If you attempt to negotiate a settlement through your respective lawyers, you will end up spending much more money then you really need to.

Imagine this scenario – lawyer A sends lawyer B a letter outlining their clients position on any particular issue. Lawyer B receives the documents from lawyer A and then issues their own document back to lawyer A acknowledging receipt of documents from lawyer A. Lawyer A then sends a quick note back to lawyer B acknowledging receipt of the receipt of the documents. If you listen carefully, you can here the lawyers laughing silently as they calculate exactly how many payments they can make on their high-end luxury car on your back.

As ridiculous as this sounds, I’m embarrassed to admit this has actually happened to me. It is maddening to know thousands of dollars were spent unnecessarily because two parties could not come to their own solution. If you let your emotions run wild, the lawyers will capitalize on this weakness and start charging you hundreds of dollars for an administrative tug of war.

I realize it is not fair to stereotype an entire profession or group of individuals but if lawyers really had their clients best interests at heart they would send their clients a letter that says – negotiate a settlement yourselves or we will charge you a bucket load of money for your stupidity.

There are other options available if you and your partner are unable to negotiate an agreement yourselves. Mediation is a viable option that can get the job done and save both parties a great deal of money. In the end, long after the divorce has been finalized and the emotions have subsided, both parties will be grateful they used mediation.

Like all things in life, choose a mediator wisely. Not all mediators are competent and effective. If you can find a mediator that both parties agree on, you are well on your way to dissolving your marriage.

Magic For Beginners

Are you constantly amazed by disappearing acts, card tricks and
other magic wonders you see on different occasions? Children’s
shows, magical exhibitions, trade shows, parties, and carnivals
are some of the events where magicians are popular.

Because of the effect of magic on people, many would like to
somehow try the basics of magic. There are a lot of online sites
that offer tips on how to get started with magic. Others just
content themselves with ready-made gimmicks they found at magic
shops. But for those who are really serious about trying magic,
these magic-filled sites offer different services for newbie
magicians. In their sites, they offer free videos that will help
you become trained in simple card tricks and other vanishing
acts with the use of coins, rings and other magic props.

Before starting to learn magic, you have to know the essence of
magic. First, magic or magic shows should provide happiness to
people. Magic ought to be truly enjoyed by people watching and
by the magician performing. Second, a truly good trick should be
remembered. Different methods can be tried in order to make your
tricks stand out even more.

The best place to get excited about your first magic trick is in
a local magic shop. Talk to the magician of the shop, if there
is one, and try asking him basic questions. Then, request him to
show a couple of tricks to you. Usually, magicians are very
eager to help beginners.

A good magician does not mind putting in a lot of effort to
learn and continuously practice his magic tricks and constantly
reinvent. Good magicians don’t repeat tricks to the same
audience. Your audience may figure out your secret. It is not
long before people notice familiar moves and can get bored
quickly.

Here are some tips:

a. Regularly practice your magic. Allot time every day for your
practice. b. If you are trying to videotape your act, be sure
that you have no mirrors around you as they change views and the
audience would not see what they ought to see. And remember do
not appear as though you are unsure of what you are doing
because your audience might easily lose interest watching when
the magician looks not confident.

c. Ask other people to watch intently while doing your tricks,
then ask for feedback.

d. Master one trick first before learning a new one.

e. Anywhere you go, make it a habit to bring magic props. Take
some coins and a deck of cards with you so that if you have
extra time, you can use it to practice the tricks.
