Sodium Chloride, the chemical name for common salt, contains 39 per cent of sodium, an element which never occurs in free form in nature. maintain a proper water balance within the body. It is a major factor in maintaining acid-base
equilibrium, in transmitting nerve impulses, and in relaxing muscles. It is also required for
glucose absorption and for the transport of other nutrients across cell membranes. Sodium can
help prevent catarrh. It promotes a clear brain, resulting in a better disposi tion and less mental
fatigue. Because of its influence on calcium, sodium can also help dissolve any stones forming
within the body. It is also essential for the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and
plays a part in many other glandular secretions.
There is some natural salt in every food we eat. Vegetable foods rich in sodium are celery,
cucumbers, watermelon, lemons, oranges, grapefruit, beet-tops, cabbage, lettuce, corn, lady’s
fingers, apple, berries, pears, squash, pumpkin, peaches, lentils, almonds and walnuts. Animal
food sources include shell fish, lean beef, kidney, bacon and cheese. The sodium chloride
requirements for persons living in the tropics have been estimated at 10 to 15 g. per day for
adults who are engaged in light work and 15 to 20 g. for those engaged in hard work. The
requirements of children are from five to 10 g. and those for adolescent boys and girls from 10 to
25 g.
Both deficiency and excess of salt may produce adverse effects o the human body. Deficiencies
of sodium are, however, rare and may be caused by excessive sweating, prolonged use of
diuretics, or chronic diarrhoea. Deficiency may lead to nausea, muscular weakness, heat
exhaustion, mental apathy and respiratory failure. Over-supply of sodium is a more common
problem because of overuse of dietary sodium chloride or common salt. Too much sodium may
lead to water retention, high blood pressure, stomach ulcers, stomach cancer, harden- ing of
arteries and heart disease.
In case of mild deficiency of sodium chloride, taking a teaspoon of common salt in one half litre
of water or any fruit juice quickly restores the health. In severe conditions, however,
administration of sodium chloride in the form of normal saline by intravenous drip may be
restored to. The adverse effects of excessive use of sodium chloride can be rectified by avoiding
the use of common salt.

Insoluble fiber, such as that found in wheat bran, has the capacity to hold water and therefore contributes to regular bowel movements and healthier intestines.
Flaxseed contains both Omega3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. Omega 3’s are found in fatty fish, some hen eggs and flaxseed oil. Flaxseed has been found to have the highest amount of omega 3 fatty acid found in plant form. Omega 6’s are found basically in vegetable oils. In our North American diet, we consume too much of omega 6 and not enough of omega 3. Flaxseed contains the proper ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids. Flaxseed contains plant lignans. Plant lignans, when acted on by bacteria in the digestive tract, are converted to hormone-like substances. New studies are ongoing, researching the effect this may have in the prevention of cancer, especially breast and prostate cancer.
Flaxseed has a great taste. Flaxseed and ground flaxseed have a delicious, nutty flavor. Ground flaxseed can be used in recipes, instead of oil, in three to one ratio. One cup of flaxseed equals one third cup of oil. To begin to incorporate it into your diet, you can add a little to muffins or baked breads. It is delicious sprinkled on oatmeal.
Because of the variety of beneficial effects, flaxseed is worth considering as an addition to our diets, two to three times a week. Flaxseed has anti-coagulant properties. This can be beneficial in preventing blood clots. However, if you are on aspirin therapy or taking ibuprofen regularly, there may be a risk of bleeding. Herbs, such as garlic and ginseng, may thin the blood as well. If you fall into any of these categories, be certain to consult with your physician on the amount of flaxseed, if any, that should be added to your diet.

1. What is distilled water?
Distilled water is quite simply water that has been heated up to boiling point so that it evaporates. It then rises in the distiller unit and condenses - turning back into water but minus all of the toxin and impurities behind. Using a distiller rids the water of any bacteria, viruses, cysts, heavy metals, radionuclides, organics, inorganics, and particulates.
It is no different from the process seen in the hydrologic cycle when the water on the earth is heated by the sun, turning it into a vapour which rises and forms clouds (leaving the toxins and impurities behind). As the vapours cool, the clouds turn back into droplets of water and fall as rain back to the earth. This process borrowed from nature is what the distiller uses to make pure water!
2. Doesn’t Distilled Water Leech Minerals from the Body?
This is a claim that has been made and propagated for some fifteen years without any substantial evidence or logic.
It is assumed that this myth was created by a manufacturer of a competing water purification system as a way of trying to create consumer distrust. It is unbelievable that it still survives today, regardless of it being as scientifically based as me saying that smoking can cure cancer.

3. Isn’t distilled water void of minerals that my body needs?
This is another popular myth that is based on no scientific fact!
Put most simply, there are two types of mineral - organic and inorganic. The body is only able to absorb organic minerals and it gets these from foods. As the body does not have a need to get minerals from water the best thing we can do is make our drinking water as pure from toxins and chemicals as possible.
While it is true that the process of distillation removes certain minerals from the water it the majority of these are inorganic and are therefore useless to the body. In any case, research has highlighted that you would have to drink over 650 eight-ounce glasses of tap water to reach the Recommended Daily Allowance for calcium. The fact that distillation makes water 100% pure should not be of concern.
4. Are distillers expensive to run?

Action Step: #1: Figure out what you want.
Remember, you can want more than one thing, and you can change what you want. Every one knows what they want, it is just some people are afraid. What if I don’t’ really want that, what if I cannot get it, what if I want something else. Don’t worry about all that. Go for what you REALLY want now, and if you want something else later, you can change your mind. So what do you want? Write down 4 things that really inspire you and light you up on a piece of paper now.

Action Step: #2: Get yourself BIG reasons.
You have to create reasons that are an 11 on a scale of 10. When you look at those reasons, they are an 11. They really turn your crank and light you up. The reasons are so inspiring they keep you inspired every day. So ask yourself why? Why do you want this? Write down 5-10 of the reasons why you want what you wrote above.

Now look at these reasons and rate them. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most, how inspired and passionate are you about that reason why? You need to now go back and find reasons that are a 10. Otherwise the reasons why are not big enough.
Action Step: #3 - Focus on what you want
The short version is this. Visualize this, pray for this, ask for this, meditate on this, or whatever it is you do. Get inspired by it. They key to getting what you want is focusing on what you want everyday. Focus on what you want.
One of the greatest things you can do is create these reasons for anything in life you want that you are not getting. If the reasons are big enough, they will be bigger than anything that might have stopped you in the past. A big enough reason makes the how to easy.
