A Detox Diet for Health and Weight Loss
Our food, water and air have an unprecedented variety of chemicals, some of which are toxic to the body even in limited amounts, and most of which are strenuous on your body’s natural detox system. As well as doing a few body detoxes a year, you can keep a clean and healthy body by moving your normal everyday diet toward a clean, natural diet. In addition to supplying year round body cleansing, a cleansing diet will help you maintain better health, greater energy and mood, and a lower weight. Many people have experienced lasting weight loss with a detoxifying diet.
The easiest way to change to a cleansing diet for weight loss and health is to eat more fresh fruits and vegetables and reduce your consumption of fatty foods, processed foods and sugary foods. Here are some rules for which foods to include in your cleansing diet:
Eat fresh fruit every day. Don’t eat too many bananas or dried fruits. Dried fruits can be soaked overnight.
Have two salads each day, ideally at lunch and dinner.
Eat grilled chicken (not fried!), fish or tofu for your protein. Lean beef now and then.
Drink 4 oz. of vegetable juice several times a week. Ideal vegetables for juicing are cucumber, celery, carrot, beets and parsley. If you don’t have time or equipment to make your own vegetable juice, purchase it fresh in a big quantity, part it into 2 oz servings and freeze for future use.
Have sea vegetables (seaweed) regularly. Granular dulse and kelp are simple to use. Granulated seaweeds can be used as a salt substitute.
And, it goes without saying, drink more water. Try to raise your water intake to a gallon a day of fresh, filtered or distilled water. Some of your daily quota can include a few glasses of unsweetened herbal tea. No sugared drinks. Sodas do not hydrate, they just add more substances to your body.
