Intelius chief executive officer and co-establisher Naveen Jain is aware of the importance of his social responsibility, especially in this season of economic crisis. Even then, he does his best in giving back to the community through his own initiatives. As a matter of fact, in 2008, he and his wife Anu personally donated financial funds that totaled to about $480,000, benefiting various nonprofit aid groups.
However, his contribution to the community does not stop at the personal level since he took the spirit of philanthropy to a corporate level. The same year they gave their personal donations, Intellius Incorporated, Naveen Jain’s Bellevue, Washington-based business, gave away more than $210,000 to several local and nonlocal groups, setting a new corporate record for the business.
Built in January of 2003, Intelius Inc is among the top suppliers of online data and people searches, verification, screening and ID protection assistances to millions of individual consumers and companies in the US. Though the company is still in its sixth year of operations, it is already highly recognized by its users. In 2006, the Puget Sound Business Journal named the company as among the biggest corporate community givers, endowing more than $1 million and spending hundreds of volunteer hours to eligible aid groups that support concerns on the youth, education and health care.
In addition, Overlake Service League’s Trish Carpenter acknowledged Naveen Jain, together with his wife and his company, for taking such a brave role. The Jains and their company, she said, have set an example for other businesses and individuals to follow.
For this year, 2009, the company planned a series of programs to instill more philanthropic initiatives from its workers like the paid volunteer leave, where employees get paid by the hours he spent volunteering in an aid group. Another initiative is the matching program, where the yearly $250 worth of donations of the employees are matched with eligible organizations.
