Trichotillomania Hypnosis - An End to Hair Pulling

There is a split in the medical world as to whether trichotillomania is an Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) or an impulse disorder. However, what ever it is classified as, about 2% of the population know it causes them a great deal of distress, discomfort and embarrassment. The condition is as individual as the people who suffer from it. For many the symptoms will be evident as hair pulling. Literally pulling their hair out from any area of their body and even from their close relatives and partners. Others will focus on pulling hair from maybe just one area of the body such eyebrow pulling, eyelash pulling and so on.

What happens after hair has been pulled from the body can also vary from sufferer to sufferer. Some then keep the hair, whilst others use the pulled hair as dental floss and a small percentage eat the hair, which is referred to as trichophagia. Trichophagia can cause serious stomach pain and on occasions surgery is needed to remove hairball.

The hair pulling behaviour usually starts in young children with the male and female split being about 50 - 50. By with the onset of puberty 90% of recorded cases are female. Although recorded cases do not necessarily reflect the true picture. It is quite accepted in modern society that men can from an early age start to have a receding hairline and bald patches. Very little is publicly said, whilst females with bald patches, missing eyebrows etc are subject to at the very least to comment.

Diagnosis is on occasion difficult even for trichologics as often admitting this behaviour would add shame to the discomfort and may result in the loss of sympathy. As a London and Midlands based hypnotherapist who specialises in using hypnotherapy and EFT with people who have trichotillomania, I recently treated a client who’s partner believed she had alopecia and when she got up the courage to admit she was pulling out her own hair the relationship collapsed. This was exceptional it should be noted as most partners have an inkling that something is not quite right and when told that it is a condition, are usually very supportive.

Over time people with trichotillomania (sometimes shortened to TTM) become adept at covering up the damage. Some use wigs, whilst others will use scarves and caps. For those with eyelash or eyebrow pulling behaviour will cover the evidence by using false eyelashes and cosmetics.

If treatment is not offered quickly the bald patches will grow and effect not only have an adverse effect on external appearance but also the person’s ability to function in the big wide and often windy world. Activities such as swimming, driving in a convertible car become only dreams.

All of this restriction on their life can naturally affect their self-confidence and self esteem. Depression is often linked with trichotillomania and medication may be prescribed such as Prozac. Some people report some improvement with pharmaceutical treatment but others prefer an alternative approach including behaviour therapy. CBT, support groups and hypnotherapy. Some people also benefit from dietary changes.

As an experienced trichotillomania hypnotherapist, I have found that a combination of practical and pleasant activities and strategies as well hypnosis and EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can be effective. After working with clients directly in one to one sessions, I also provide hypnosis and subliminal cds to be used each evening in addition and to continue the progressive made in the hypnotherapy sessions.

Whether working with a client face to face or by email, it is possible with honesty and trust to work out times and situations which exacerbate the issue and make a change. Just like learning to walk it takes time, practise and encouragement from people around you.

In my experience trichotillomania in all its forms can be treated effectively and either reduced in severity or eliminated if the client’s motivation is there and the support of loved ones can be counted on.

Arizona Assisted Living Homes — The Alternative to High Priced Senior Care

The cost of skilled nursing care is slowly rising. Currently, the average cost of care in Arizona ranges from $3,500 to $4,500 per month. Skilled nursing facilities are great for seniors who require skilled nursing care by medical professionals such as registered nurses or physicians. However, is skilled nursing care appropriate for those who only require assistance with their activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing and going to the bathroom? Is it realistic for someone to pay $3,000 to $6,000 a month for skilled nursing care when their only requirement is assistance with their ADLs? Believe it or not, there are many seniors who do not require skilled nursing care and remain in nursing homes due to their lack of knowledge of the options available to them. There are affordable alternatives to nursing home care. When a senior requires long term care without 24 hour medical supervision, the preferred alternative is Assisted Living Homes.

You may ask, “What is an Assisted Living Home?” In Arizona, an Assisted Living Home is a regular home located within a residential neighborhood and licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services to provide assistance 24 hours a day to those who need care outside of their own home. Assisted Living Homes are licensed for up to 10 residents. There are three levels of care an Assisted Living Home can be licensed for: Supervisory, Personal and Directed. Every Assisted Living Home is licensed for one or more of these levels of care. In sum, Assisted Living Homes are homes licensed to provide care for seniors who are no longer able to live alone, and do not require skilled nursing care.

What are the benefits of an Assisted Living Home? An Assisted Living Home gives residents a feeling of being at home instead of an institutionalized setting. Each caregiver and manager is required to become certified, and often times the caregiver or manager lives in the home full time. Each home provides 24 hours of care, 7 days a week. Many homes offer hospice care, respite care, Alzheimer’s/Memory Care, incontinence care, and therapeutic services under the direction of a physician. In addition, three nutritious meals are prepared for the residents along with snacks throughout the day, as well as daily activities as required by law. Both private and semi-private rooms are available for residents to choose from. As a result, there are many benefits available when residing in an Assisted Living Home.

Why is an Assisted Living Home unique? An Assisted Living Home provides care in a home setting, and because there is a limit of up to 10 residents in each home, the ratio of caregiver to residents is such that the care provided is very individualized as opposed to larger facilities. Monthly costs for Assisted Living Homes range from $1,500 to $3,000, allowing for an affordable option compared to the cost of nursing home care. Private pay may be the only option currently offered by the majority of Assisted Living Homes. However, the facilities that do accept different payment sources such as ALTCS (Arizona’s Medicaid Program referred to as Arizona Long Term Care System), usually require a resident to private pay for a certain period of time before they allow government benefits to begin. Bottom line: Assisted Living Homes are less expensive and provide more individualized care in a home-like setting.

Finally, when living at home is not an option and skilled nursing care is either out of one’s budget or not the right option based upon one’s level of care, Assisted Living Homes are the affordable alternative senior housing choice.

“Foot Pain Relief At Last!”

“As an arthritis specialist, one area that I see people complain about more often than almost any other, is their feet.” So says Dr. Nathan Wei, Clinical Director of The Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of Maryland. “This is too bad because there are many treatments that can be helpful,” Dr. Wei adds.

The foot is made up of 26 bones and 39 muscles…
The foot and ankle are designed to bear weight. The multiple joints in the feet are capable of adjusting to almost any terrain and the padding in the feet are designed to absorb shock.. The ankle joint allows the foot to move up and down, side to side, and inward and outward (inversion and eversion).

Not All Foot Pain Comes From The Foot!
Careful examination of the low back, hip, and knee should be performed because pain from these areas may affect the foot and ankle. In particular, pinched nerves in the low back can cause foot pain and weakness.

Ankle sprains are common- 25,000 people sprain an ankle every day!
The goal of treatment is to relieve pain and prevent instability.
Treatment of an acute sprain consists of rest, ice compression and elevation (”RICE”). Exercises to help stabilize and strengthen the ankle should be started.

Arthritis of the ankle may cause recurrent pain and swelling.
Pain from arthritis typically is made worse by weight-bearing particularly on uneven ground. What this means is you should try to avoid excessive walking or running on uneven ground. Anti-inflammatory medication and proper foot support can do wonders.

Pain in the ball of the foot has many causes…

  • Foot strain occurs when a person “overdoes it.” And the treatment is pretty straightforward. Rest.
  • Morton’s neuroma (a benign nerve tumor usually located between the 3rd and 4th toes)
  • Tarsal tunnel syndrome (pinched nerve in the ankle)
  • Arthritis.

Other common causes of foot pain include:

  • Stress fractures may occur after excessive walking.
  • Achilles tendonitis causes pain in the back of the heel. Treatment consists of anti-inflammatory medicines, rest, a heel lift, and gentle stretching.
  • Plantar fasciitis causes pain in the bottom of the heel. Treatment includes rest, anti-inflammatory medication, heel cup, orthotics, stretching, and local steroid injection.
  • Flat foot.

Muscle strengthening exercises and orthotics are helpful.
Two other common problems are:

  • Osteoarthritis, particularly common in the big toe. The big toe will point out to the side. When bursitis alongside the great toe joint develops, this condition is referred to as a bunion. Treatment involves proper padding and footwear. In extreme cases, surgery is required.
  • Neuropathy. This painful condition is particularly common in diabetics. This occurs when the small nerves in the feet are damaged. Symptoms include burning, tingling, and pain in the feet - worse at night.

Well fitted orthotics (arch supports) can alleviate not only foot and ankle pain but pain in the knees, hips, low back, and neck!!

We often take the ability to walk for granted. This ability involves the use of two engineering marvels- our feet and ankles. Because of the tremendous amount of force transmitted to the feet with walking, unique problems may develop. Attention to proper preventative care, i.e., comfortable shoes, sox, hygiene, support, along with proper prompt medical care can really put the brakes on foot pain.

Dr. Wei (pronounced “way”) is a board-certified rheumatologist and Clinical Director of the nationally respected Arthritis and Osteoporosis Center of Maryland. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and has served as a consultant to the Arthritis Branch of the National Institutes of Health. He is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and the American College of Physicians. Perinate Herpes Simplex Viral Infection

Perinate herpes simplex viral infections may cause serious disease incidence and mortality. A number of the infections result from abscure cervical shedding of virus after a primary episode of genital HSV in the third trimester. Immune bodies to HSV-2 were found in approximately 20% of pregnant women, but only 5% report a history of symptomatic infection.

Primary cases of HSV and secondary cases near term or at the time of childbirth should be treated with antiviral therapy. Сesarean section should be performed if active HSV infection is present at the time of delivery.

Both symptomatic and asymptomatic primary genital HSV infections are associated with premature delivery and low birth weight children. Diagnosticating of perinate HSV may be difficult, but it should be suspected in any newborn with irritability, lethargy, fever or poor feeding at one week of age. Primary diagnosis is made by culturing the blood, cerebro-spinial fluid, urine and fluid from eyes, nose and mucous tunic. Actually all newborn infants suspected to have or who are diagnosed with HSV infection should be put under treatment with parenteral acyclovir.

Perinate herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections are transmitted from an infected mother, usually vertically, during childbirth. Introduction of infection is approximately 1 per 3,000 to 20,000 live births. A mother who detects a primary episode of genital HSV during the third trimester and who has not completed seroconversion by the onset of labor has a 33% chance of transmitting the infection to the child.

A mother detecting a secondary reactivation of HSV during the intrapartum period has approximately a 3% chance of transmitting the infection to her cheild. From amongst infected infants, only 30% have mothers who had symptomatic HSV or a sexual partner with clinical infection. Most perinate infections happen because of asymptomatic cervical shedding of virus, usually after a primary episode of HSV infection.

Frequency of occurences worldwide of herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) seropositivity is anxiously high (about 25% seropositivity in USA). Immune bodies to HSV-2 were found in approximately 20% of ladies-in-waiting; however, only 5 have shown a history of symptomatic infection.

It’s worth mentioning that primary genital HSV infections during gestation can be detected at rates similar to those in nonpregnant women, and often these infections may be described as asymptomatic. There is a 2 to 3 percent seroconversion rate in pregnant women. Infection contamination occurs from an HSV-2-positive partner and is often traced to asymptomatic shedding of virus. Both symptomatic and asymptomatic primary genital HSV infections are associated with premature delivery and misborn infants. Due to wide spread of HSV among adults, physicians should take into consideration the risk of a primary HSV infection in a ladies-in-waiting and its potential consequences to the foetus.

“Bodybuilding Sins” That Cause Back Pain And Missed Workouts

Welcome to article number 2 in our series “Bodybuilding Sins That Cause Back Pain and Missed Workouts”. In this article we are going to talk about how bodybuilders tend to create massive muscle imbalances and what you can do to not be one of them.

If you missed the first article, you can read it by clicking on the link below.

Here’s a breakdown of the articles to look for:

1. Article #1 - Choosing The WRONG Exercises

2. Article #2 - Training Variations for Pain Relief and Maximum Results

3. Article #3 - Targeted Stretching

4. Article #4 - Targeted Exercises

5. Article #5 - Rest, Recovery, and Injury Prevention

Article #3 - Targeted Stretching

Stretching can be great, but it can also make existing injuries worse or even bring about new ones!

The key to making stretching work for you is knowing which stretches you need to be working on… and just because a muscle feels tight, that doesn’t necessarily mean it needs to be stretched.

For example, many people stretch the hamstrings because they feel tight and they think the hamstrings are limiting their flexibility…

the fact is, most of the time the hamstrings are “tight” because they are constantly being pulled / lengthened due to muscle imbalances that tip the pelvis forward.

As you can, when the pelvis tips forward the hamstrings get pulled upward and are constantly held in a stretched position…

And this is why millions of people can stretch their hamstrings every freakin day and never make any improvement in their flexibility….

Are you one of those people?

If you are, you need to stop stretching your hamstrings and find out exactly which muscles you need to be targeting by reading the rest of this article…

Not only does this forward tipping of the pelvis (which is caused by muscle imbalances) keep the hamstrings tight and make it very difficult to make improvements in the muscles flexibility, but it also leads to the following:

• increased stress / wear and tear from the ankles all the way up the spine

For example, the forward tipping of the pelvis places uneven pressure on the ankle, knee and hip joints and also many of the vertebrae in the spine.

• weakens the hamstrings, inhibits normal functioning and increases the likelihood of hamstring pulls

When the hamstrings are constantly being strained because of the muscle imbalances, the muscle is weak, not able to function as it normally would, prone to injury and without correcting the muscle imbalance recover can take up to 9 months to a year, or longer!

• creates excess curvature in the lower and middle spine

This tipping of the pelvis places excessive amounts of abnormal stress on the muscles, vertebrae and discs in the lower and mid spine and this sets you up for potential injuries to the muscles of the lower and middle back…

Plus, it also causes the discs between your vertebrae to wear down and deteriorate much faster than they normally would and this sets you up for degenerative, bulging, protruding and herniated discs along with numerous other spinal conditions like arthritis, spinal stenosis, and the oh so popular sciatica!

This hamstring example is just one of many… muscle imbalances are responsible for nearly every ache, pain, injury and condition out there!

Here are a few more examples of injuries / conditions that are caused by muscle imbalances and can easily be prevented and/or eliminated with targeted stretches and exercises:

• upper back and neck pain

• shoulder injuries (rotator cuff)

• elbow and wrist pain (carpal tunnel, tennis/golfer/baseball elbow, etc)

• knee pain (runners knee, chondromalacia, ligament tears, etc)

• hip pain (IT band syndrome, bursitis, etc)

• ankle pain (Achilles tendonitis, shin splints, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, etc)

All of these conditions are caused by muscle imbalances and will NOT go away unless you work towards correcting the imbalances… and the only way to know for sure which imbalances are causing your pain or injury is to do a series of physical assessments like the ones covered in our “Lose the Back Pain Video” which is designed for anyone suffering from back pain or sciatica.

What the heck is a targeted stretch?

This is a question we are asked often and here’s the definition we give it:

Targeted Stretch - a stretch or stretching exercise that is chosen, based on physical assessments, to target a specific muscle or muscle group to increase the flexibility and range of motion in that area and bring the bones and or joints back towards the normal position.

When you compare a targeted stretch to general stretches like the ones found in Yoga, Pilates and the corny ones your doctor, chiropractor or physical therapist gives you, it’s no surprise they give little or no pain relief and almost always fail to get rid of the problem.

Conclusion

Remember, the key to eliminating injuries and preventing future ones is to identify what areas you need to target. In the next article we’ll be discussing in detail, how to address various injuries like back, hip, knee, and shoulder pain with targeted exercises. In the meantime, be sure to read thru all of our detailed Back Pain Articles and if you have questions, please post them in our Discussion Forum.

Hair Removal Options

Simple fact or a cruel joke, but as men age, they get less hair
where they want it and more hair where they don’t. Excessive,
patchy or ill-placed body hair can be the bane of any man,
fortunately today’s average guy can add hair removal to his
regular grooming routine. De-foresting options abound, the most
popular of them are listed below:

SHAVING A centuries old process common to virtually every man on
earth, hair removal is immediate, but grows back almost as
quickly. Pros: Inexpensive, convenient and non-invasive. Cons:
Very short-term; razor burn, subject to ingrown hairs and
bleeding at the shaky hand of the fearful.

WAXING Hot wax is spread on, capturing the hair, when cool it is
removed with a yank of a fabric strip. Cold wax or hard wax does
not require the fabric strip and is best on shorter, thinner
hair in smaller sensitive areas. Waxing is fast, efficient,
immediate and provides longer term results than shaving. Pros:
Quick and cheap; lasts longer than shaving (3-4 weeks). Cons:
Messy, painful, also rashes or acne breakouts may occur.

ELECTROLYSIS An electrical current is emitted from a probe that
is inserted into every hair follicle to permanently destroy the
root. Electrolysis is the most effective process for removal of
unwanted hair. Look for a certified and very experienced
Electrologist when considering this option. Pros: Permanent.
Cons: Painful, expensive, time-consuming and results totally
dependent on the skill of your Electrologist.

LASER HAIR REMOVAL Lasers destroy hair follicles by targeting
the melanin within. The light beam passes through skin into the
hair while energy is transformed into heat disabling the hair
follicle. This Procedure should only be performed by a licensed
plastic surgeon, or dermatologist. Maintenance visits may be
required. Pros: Effective, faster and less painful than
electrolysis; last 3-6 months. Cons: Expensive, potential
burning or scarring, and once again must be performed by a
highly experienced professional.

INTENSE PULSED LIGHT This next generation of technology
promises better results than lasers by using concentrated bursts
of wide-spectrum, multidirectional light. The manufacturers
claim it is suitable for a wide range of skin types and hair
colors. Pros: Effective; faster and more precise than lasers;
near permanent. Cons: Very expensive, new technology, not
available everywhere.

CHEMICAL DEPILATORIES If you can’t stand the thought of yanking
your hair out by the roots, shocking or burning out your hair
follicles, then depilatory creams and foams offer an
alternative. Hair-removal creams are composed of acids that
actually dissolve hair just below the surface, but the strong
chemicals can irritate skin, especially if you leave the stuff
on too long. Pros: Quick, easy and cheap; not painful like
waxing. Cons: Unpleasant odor to some; may cause skin irritation.

SUGARING An ancient method of hair removal that originated in
Egypt; sugaring is an alternative to waxing for highly sensitive
skin. A sugar paste is applied at body temperature and removed
with cotton strips or directly with the hands. Pros:
All-natural, gentler on skin than waxing. Cons: Not effective on
men’s beards.

THREADING Another ancient hair-removal method still used widely
throughout the Middle East to remove unwanted facial hair. 100%
cotton thread is used to entwine the hair, which is lifted from
the follicle. The practice, while not as common as other methods
in the U.S., is effective and precise. Pros: Great for those
allergic to wax Cons: Time-consuming and moderately painful
removing more than a single strand of hair.

EPILATORS Early models used coils of wire that grabbed
indiscriminately, and as subtly as a tractor. Newer models like
the Silk-Epil use rows of tiny tweezers, which cause
(relatively) less pain, and at least one model actually includes
an ice-pack attachment to numb your targeted body parts. Pros:
Cleaner and quicker than shaving or waxing, can last for weeks.
Cons: Can produce irritated skin, ingrown hairs and the sight of
grown men crying.

Give any one of these a try and you can say “Hair today, Gone
tomorrow” and feel good about it.

Gastric Bypass - The Nightmare for Food Lovers

While the gastric bypass may seem like the perfect solution to
those who are obese, I’d like to explain just how the surgery
affects the lifestyle of those who’ve had gastric bypass
surgery.

If the lovers of food really know the drastic lifestyle change
involved in the months and years after gastric bypass surgery
then, unless they we’re considering the operations for
alleviating an immediate health concern, certainly wouldn’t go
through with the gastric bypass procedure. Why’s that, you ask?

Meal times, snack times, gorgeous roast chicken, beans, carrots,
potatoes, naughty cakes and treats are all banished after
surgery. Yes you can have your roast chicken and all the normal
food you enjoy now (except sweet and salty food), but how does
half a cup sound, and that’s it! Your full meal could be half a
cup of chicken and that’s it – no more food for that sitting.

As your stomach is ‘stapled’ during surgery it can only hold a
certain amount – it’s no miracle that patients of the gastric
bypass lose weight rapidly. It’s because they’re unable to eat
more then that half a cup without feeling sick and full. It’s
hard as most patients will tell you.

With no immediate health concerns, those that are obese could
simply cut down the food they eat – we aren’t talking half a cup
like those who’ve had gastric bypass surgery must endure, just a
nice healthy balanced diet. The weight will come off I assure
you, and you won’t need to go ‘under the knife’.

Let aromatherapy and essential oils relax your mind, body and soul!

Pure essential oils can help us take care of ourselves, relieve
stress, sooth and relax our minds and bodies. Essential oils
have been around for thousands of years, used for healing
purposes, relaxation and calming ourselves from our daily
stresses. With organic essential oils, they are produced without
the use of fertilizers or pesticides thus insuring a pure
product. Pure essential oils have been used successfully for
medicinal purposes, such as minor colds, flu like symptoms and
relieve respiratory problems. There are pure oils for muscle
pains, breathing problems, skin afflictions and for most
ailments that we come across in our daily lives. They are used
to help in rejuvenating the mind and body and even in some cases
boosting the immune system. Even in helping to relieve the
psyche of unnecessary mental duress, these oils therefore
enhance our lives and well being. Essential oils should not be
taken as a substitute for drugs in cases in serious or terminal
illnesses. As you included these oils in your daily routine you
will be amazed at the soothing and healing powers these natural
oils have. You will wonder why you hadn’t discovered their
amazing benefits before now.

If you are seeking a true therapeutic essential oil to help heal
and ease your physical and spiritual problems, we can help you
find the quality you need. A proper therapeutic essential oil
needs to be processed through the correct distillation method
required for that specific oil, example, sandalwood is extracted
by the steam distillation method. Always make sure your chosen
therapeutic essential oils contains no genetically modified
organisms (GMO’s), for they should never be used in the
production of creating oils. They should be made with no
artificial colors or scents, only with their natural colors and
aromas. Be sure that they are stored in dark bottles, since the
exposure to artificial or natural light can damage the oil and
all it’s qualities. The discovery of therapeutic essential oils
has changed many lives and all for the better, by relieving
minor problems, and also helping with more serious ailments.
They can be used for a healthier skin, body, and mind, by
lowering the stress levels in your daily lives. And you don’t
have to wait long to feel the positive effects of your chosen
oil, as soon as you start to use them, they will better you life
and those around you.

There are various ways in which to use your oils to maximize
their benefits. With essential oil burners, they are one of the
most popular and effective methods for withdrawing and
distributing the essence of your chosen oil. With a small
concentrated amount of your selected oil for burning, you simply
add it to any type of essential oil burners with water. The
average recipe will be three quarters water and four drops of
your selected oil. When using essential oil burners, always
remember that you do not need a large amount, since single oils
come from single species, they are very potent and are to be
used in small quantities. Being derived from the plants at a
very, very high concentration, the potency is so high that only
a little amount is needed to ease your mind and body and feel
the great effects relax all your worries away.

Also, you can use essential oil diffusers as another method of
drawing out the healing and spiritual benefits that oils have to
offer you. With the use of them and your chosen oil, they can
help your sleep quality improve, help you stay more alert and
aware, lift your spirits, help you reach a comfortable relaxed
state and even help to create a romantic atmosphere anywhere.
There are so many different types of essential oil diffusers
that draw out your chosen oil without the use of heat, such as
the fan diffuser, the nebulizing diffuser, diffuser pots,
special purpose diffusers and even necklace diffusers. Though it
is recommend by aromatherapists to use an essential oil diffuser
without the use of heat, everyone is different and some people
just prefer the different styles and ways of enjoying your oils
with heat. For those types of people there are various options
for you to chose from, such as tea candle diffusers, lamp ring
or light bulb ring diffusers, car diffusers.

Curing acne once and for all!

Acne affects a huge number of people all over the world and is
one of the most problematic issues of teenagers and adults
alike. The idea of a successful acne home remedy treatment is
growing in popularity with all age groups. Effective acne
treatment can be performed under medical supervision and this is
advisable for moderate or aggravated cases. However, the largest
majority of people who have pimples and zits only display mild
forms of the condition. For them, a good acne home remedy
treatment is the perfect solution, as they can apply it
themselves and it costs a lot less then going to the
dermatologist. Let’s take a look at some of the things you can
try at home in order to get rid of acne !

Home remedies for acne

There are quite a large variety of good acne home remedy
treatment techniques you can try. Many people successfully cure
pimples and treat zits with orange paste applied on the
irritated areas. The citric acid in the paste works well on
reducing the size and irritation of the acne condition. Other
proven things that can help you cure acne are cucumbers and
garlic, which also have curative properties. Acne home remedy
treatment can also include a good and healthy diet. Fresh fruit
and plenty of water should be consumed daily in order to get rid
of pimples. Hygiene of the affected areas is also vital as a
clean and healthy skin will have less irritation and,
consequently, less pimples .

Other cures for acne

Allopathic treatment is also effective in helping you eliminate
acne. As with other acne home remedy treatment methods, you can
try this at home by purchasing over the counter drugs created
specifically for this. There is no ultimate acne treatment , as
some people respond well to a cure while others see not
noticeable improvement. Getting rid of pimples is a lengthy
process in most cases and almost every acne scar treatment does
take at least weeks if not months in order to show some positive
results. Surgeons or dermatologists are the ones who can decide
what acne cure will work best for you - HREF="http://acne.my-health-advice.com" rel="nofollow"> Expert Acne Advice

Acne blemish treatment methods There are several methods of
treating acne, such as laser acne treatment . You can also try
different types of topical antibiotics that are applied directly
on the skin. Oral antibiotics such as tetracycline and
doxycycline have also been known to have positive effects in
curing zits and pimples. Your doctor may give you prescription
medicine such as salicylic acid, sulfur, resorcinol or peroxide.
Another element that has been proven to have good effects in
acne blemish treatments is retinoids, a vitamin A derivate. The
product comes in various forms such as isotretinoin pills
(Accutane) or gel. Please note that this product can have
negative effects on pregnant women, so consult your doctor
before attempting to begin acne treatment.

Why Are You Suffering From Back Aches?

“The smallest pain in our little finger gives us more concern than the destruction of millions of our fellow beings.”
William Hazlitt [1778-1830. British Essayist]

If “The smallest pain in our little finger gives us more concern…” then what happens when we have back, knee or joint pain?

Did you know that
- 80% of Americans will battle with a back problem at some point in their lives?
- 7 million people are treated for back aches every year?
- 2 million new cases of back pain are opened every year?
- $100 billion is being spent annually in medical bills, disability and lost productivity at work?

Pain and its relief is of utmost concern for most of us that are in constant pain.

Why are we in Pain?

Before we can answer this question, we need to understand how the body interprets and handles this problem. The pain impulse begins at the point of an injury for example a cut, burn, pinched nerve, bruised muscle etc.

Once the impulse starts, it triggers a number of bio-chemicals to be released at the site of the injury. Some of these bio-chemicals are histamine, bradykinin, prostaglandin, and Substance P. Each of these has one or more effects on the body. And many of these bio-chemicals are inflammatory — that is they cause the injury site to swell up.

Inflammation is actually a defense mechanism for the body. Inflammation serves to bathe the injury in healing fluids and acts as a cushion to protect against further injury. However. if the inflammation is prolonged or out of control, it can cause destruction. This is what occurs in arthritis where the inflammation actually destroys the joints. Also, inflammation can serve to compound problems by actually causing the suffering itself.

This explains how an injury causes the body to release a number of biochemicals that can cause inflammation. Another action of these biochemicals, though, is to stimulate the nerve fibers of pain, the C fibers. (The body actually has three types of nerve fibers: A fibers. B fibers and C fibers. The main fibers which transmit the pain impulse are the C fibers.) Histamine, bradykinin, prostaglandins and the other bio-chemicals are actually the stimuli that cause the pain impulse to begin.

Types of Pain Relief

At the site of an injury, whether the problem is an ache or inflammation, the pain impulse can be interrupted by:

-Decreasing the levels of bio-chemicals that cause you to suffer or

-by actually blocking the nerves - the C fibers.

With that in mind, it would make sense to use a painkiller that can do both of these. Aspirin and NSAIDS (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), such as ibuprofen and Motrin decrease the prostaglandins. This can result in decreased pain and inflammation, especially if the prostaglandins are the main causes.

However, aspirin and NSAIDS do not directly affect the other chemicals and do not affect the nerve, the C fiber.

Narcotics, such as Darvon or codeine, have no known effect on either the “pain” bio-chemicals or the nerve endingss. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) also has no significant effect on these at usual doses. And in fact, the way acetaminophen works is not actually known.

But we also know we can interrupt the pain impulse away from the injury site, at the spinal cord. If our pain killer could also decrease the release of (or deplete the C fiber of) Substance P, the impulse would be blocked at the spinal cord level. Aspirin and NSAIDS have no known effect at this site. Narcotics and tricyclic antidepressants, such as amitriptylene or Elavil, on the other hand, actually can block the release of Substance P and stop transmission at the spinal cord level, but once again have no value in decreasing the levels of the bio-chemicals of pain.

This new totally natural remedy does it all by providing the relief you need without using drugs and other traditional methods of relief:

- Decreases the levels of the “pain” bio-chemicals.

- Blocks the release of Substance P, thus slowing down the transmission of the impulse along the nerves of pain, the C fibers.

- And slows down transmission of pain along the spinal cord.

When you are in the market for a natural product to relief your pain look for the following qualities:

• reduces your aches and swelling
• lessens the pain of arthritis
• helps with bruises that hurt
• fights muscle fatigue
• provides soothing warmth and relief
